R-MC's Ellis Named NFCA Third Team All-American

LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- Randolph-Macon College sophomore righty Gracie Ellis is the lone representative from an ODAC school recognized as an All-American by the NFCA on Thursday. The two-time ODAC Pitcher of the Year was named a Third Team All-America selection.

Ellis posted single-season program records in wins with 25 and strikeouts with 234, both of which led the conference by wide margins. She threw 26 complete games this season, totaling 199.2 innings pitched with a 1.33 ERA. With only 23 walks, Ellis finished with an astonishing strikeout-to-walk ratio of 10.2. She played a major role in R-MC winning a Divison III regional softball title and earning hosting privileges in the super regional round of competition.

This is the second straight season Ellis earned Third Team All-America laurels from the NFCA. Additionally, she paired her second ODAC Pitcher of the Year nod with a selection as the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

The ODAC did see seven players from member schools earn All-Region recognition in Region VI from the NFCA. Joining Ellis on the First Team were teammate Rilee Baughan -- the ODAC Player of the Year -- in the utility position and a pair of Virginia Wesleyan University stars in outfielder Sarah Prosser and second baseman Laci Campbell, the ODAC Rookie of the Year. Marlins pitcher Lauren Bible and outfield Julia Piotrowski were joined by University of Lynchburg outfielder Gracie Dooley on the Second Team.
