HEATHER LEWIS, Randolph-Macon, Sophomore, Pitcher

Lewis, sophomore from Glen Allen, Va., picked up four wins and a save during the Yellow Jackets six games this week. The southpaw allowed just one earned run in 21.2 innings in the circle. Lewis recorded key strikeouts late in R-MC’s extra inning games with Dickinson College which allowed Randolph-Macon to win in walk off fashion.  For the week, she allowed just four runs (one earned) on 15 hits while fanning 17 and walking only three.  

Softball Pitcher Honor Roll

Lisa Lee, Eastern Mennonite, Junior
Lee picked up the women’s first win and finished 1-1 with a 2.15 ERA.  Lee allowed just one run on four hits in a 12-1 win over Wilson on Saturday.  On Friday, when EMU played both No. 3 Louisiana College and No. 9 Christopher Newport, Lee pitched 8.0 innings and kept the women in both games.  For the week, she struck out 12 batters over 13.0 innings.

Jessica Burcham, Guilford, Junior
Burcham earned her second and third wins of the season, throwing two complete games… allowed no runs off of eight hits while striking out eight… threw a seven-inning shut-out in the Quakers’ 2-0 win at Meredith and a five-inning, two-hit shutout at Peace…pitched 12.0 innings and recorded a 0.00 ERA in her two wins…struck out a season-high six at Peace in five innings.

Katie Bruce, Lynchburg, Senior
Bruce earned two victories this weekend at the Methodist Early Bird Tournament. She had a 2.62 ERA and opponents batted just .184 against her.  She fanned six batters overall.

Abbie Rexrode, Roanoke, Sophomore
Rexrode Had 18 striekouts in 13.1 innings and pitched a complete game shutout victory last week vs. N.C. Wesleyan.  She also fanned seven batters against Wilson.

MacKenzie Creech, Virginia Wesleyan, Freshman
Creech made her intercollegiate debut in the pitcher’s circle against Averett University and guided the Marlins to a 5-3 victory in the opening game of the 2011 season.  She struck out 10 batters, tying the fifth highest single-game total by a VWC pitcher.  Creech worked all seven innings and scattered three hits and one walk.  She allowed two earned runs.
