Boteler, a sophomore from Manassas, Va., was a standout both at the plate and in the circle for the Quakers. Boteler hit a team-high .463 with two homers and 10 RBI in the Quakers’ 4-0 week. She sported a 1.071 slugging percentage and scored five runs while extending her hitting streak to six on the young season. She went 2-for-3 with two homers and six RBI, both career highs, in the Quakers’ 9-5 win over Peace. She also had two hits in the nightcap, an 11-0 five inning victory. Boteler picked up the pitching win in game one with three strikeouts over 5.1 innings. She was 3-for-5 with three RBI in Guilford’s 10-5 win over Averett. She had two hits and an RBI in the nightcap, a 9-2 Quakers’ win. Boteler tossed a complete-game seven-hitter and matched her career high with six strikeouts in that contest.
Softball Honor Roll
Kasey Anderson, Bridgewater, Sophomore, 2nd
Base/Outfielder
Anderson was solid on the weekend for the Bridgewater
softball team as the Eagles opened the 2012 campaign with a
doubleheader sweep of visiting Hood. Anderson was 5-for-7 with
three runs scored and four RBI on Saturday afternoon in the
openers. The sophomore also drilled a triple and swiped two bases
to pace the Eagles offensively.
Molly Smith, Eastern Mennonite, Sophomore, Outfielder
Smith helped the EMU women to a successful 3-1 start
to the 2012 season, coming home with team highs in hits, runs,
triples, homeruns, RBIs and slugging percentage. She was
7-of-14 from the plate with nine RBIs and a .920 slugging
percentage. Smith broke out on day two of the Triangle
Classic, hitting a double and homerun in a win over St.
Elizabeth. She scored three times and knocked in another five
in that game. She also went 3-4 in a win over Peace with
three RBIs.
Melanie Tenney, Lynchburg, Sophomore,
Outfielder
Tenney hit .455 at the Emory University Classic this weekend. She
hit a triple Sunday against Millsaps in a 4-3 win. She had a
pair of two-hit games and drove in a pair of runs on the week.
Gina Pagano, Randolph, Senior, 3rd Base
Pagano helped Randolph extend its record out to 6-0, a program best
start for the WildCats. On Saturday, Pagano posted three hits and
two RBI in a game two victory over Southern Virginia University.
She stayed hot on Sunday, as she was three-for-four in game one
with three RBI. In the nightcap, she was three-for-three with a run
scored. On the week, Pagano was 9-for-13 with seven RBI, two runs,
and two doubles. She is now hitting .625 on the season, and batted
.692 on the week.
Stephanie Clark, Roanoke, Sophomore, Utility
Clark batted .400 (8-for-20) with two home runs and five RBI in six
games last weekend to start the season. She scored four times
in addition to a triple and a stolen base. She went 2-for-3
with a solo home run in the season-opener vs. Greensboro.
Against York, Clark hit a two-run homer while going 4-for-4 with a
triple, two runs and two RBI in the twin bill at
Methodist.
