Kristina Karagiorgis, Virginia Wesleyan, Jr., Pitcher

Karagiorgis, a junior from Ashburn, Va., improved to 5-0 on the season with three wins last week as Virginia Wesleyan went 6-0 on the week.  She opened with a six inning performance in which she scattered nine hits and gave up five runs (four earned) with three walks and four strikeouts in a 6-5 win over Meredith.  She came back with a complete game victory in a 7-1 triumph over Western Connecticut St.  She gave up four hits and one unearned run while fanning seven.  She finished her week with a second complete game effort where she did not allow a hit over seven innings in a 5-0 win over Oneonta st.  She walked three and struck out nine.  Karagiorgis is currently tied atop the conference with five wins and 30 strikeouts.

Softball Pitching Honor Roll

Cara Neikirk, Eastern Mennonite (Fr., P - Salem, Va.)
Neikirk won two games in 14 innings of work for the Royals.  She went seven complete in a 7-2 win over New Paltz St., giving up two unearned runs on five hits with 10 punchouts.  She followed that with two innings of relief in a 7-3 loss to Washington College.  She capped her week with five innings of work in which she gave up two runs on four hits and fanned four in five innings.  EMU won the shortened contest, 14-2.

Taylor Banner, Emory & Henry (So., P. - Castlewood, Va.)
Banner picked up three wins and two complete games last week.  She defeated Virginia Intermont, 3-2, by givign up two runs aon seven hits in seven innings of work.  She walked four and struck out five.  She posted a 9-0 win over Southern Virginia with two hits and no runs allowed in four innings of work.  She fanned six batters.  Against N.C. Wesleyan, she gave up zero runs on five hits with two walks and two K's in seven complete innings towards a 9-0 win.  Her efforts have helped E&H to its best start (5-1) since 2004.

Casey Snead, Guilford (So., P. - Ellerbe, N.C.)
Picked up two wins last week, including a complete game victory with six hits and zero runs allowed over seven innings in a 10-0 win over William Peace.  She also earned the win with three innings of relief in a 7-4 win over Salem.  She gave up two runs on three hits in that contest.  She fanned seven battes for the week.

Hope Johnson, Lynchburg (Fr., P. - Evington, Va.)
Johnson gave up just one hit over four innings with five strikeouts and a walk in a 12-0 win over Greensboro.

Logan Carter, Randolph (Sr., P. - Richmond, Va.)
Carter won both ends of a doubleheader against York (Pa.).  She went five innings allowing just two hits and fanning two in a 8-0 shortened win over the Spartans.  She followed that with 3.1 innings of one-hit relief to earn the win in game two via a 4-3 scoreline.

Kelsey McLaughlin, Randolph-Macon (Fr., P. - Richmond, Va.)
McLaughlin won twice last week, including a complete game victory in an 8-0 shorted win over CNU.  She went six innings, giving up no runs on two hits with four strikeouts.  She follwoed that with four innings of one-hit ball and with four strikeouts in a 9-1 win over Franklin & Marshall.
