Nelda Bagley, Randolph-Macon, Fr., Pitcher

Bagley, a freshman from Kenbridge, Va., put together a huge week for the Yellow Jackets as she record five of Randolph-Macon's six wins on the week.  Bagley went the distance for three of her victories, while she made three other relief appearances to account for the two remaining wins as the Yellow Jackets registered a trio of ODAC sweeps.  In a game one win (7-3) over Eastern Mennonite, Bagley gave up three runs, two earned, on six hits with three strikeouts in a full seven frames.  She three two frames in the second game, not figuring in the decision (W, 9-4).  Bagley won both ends of a doubleheader sweep at Guilford.  She threw seven full innings in game one, giving up one run on five hits with seven strikeouts in a 2-1 triumph.  She worked 2.2 innings in game two, fanning four while giving up a run on two hits in a 4-3 victory.  Bagley earned a 1-0 shutout of Emory & Henry in game one against the Wasps, scattering seven hits with two walks and 11 strikeouts.  She worked two more scorelss innings in game two, surrendering three hits and a walk with three punchouts in a 4-3 win.  Bagley is now 12-3 with a 1.71 ERA in 98.0 innings in the circle.  Her 12 wins, 98 innings and 107 strikeouts all rank second in the ODAC.

Softball Pitcher Honor Roll

Maggie Shaffer, Guilford (Jr. - Horsham, Pa.)
Shaffer went 1-1 last week, working 15 total innings in a pair of long starts.  She gave up three runs (one earned) on five hits with a walk to get a 5-3 complete game win at Lynchburg.  She then threw eight innings in a 4-3 loss to Randolph-Macon.  She gave up four runs (three earned) on three hits with five walks and four strikeouts.

Hope Johnson, Lynchburg (Sr. - Evington, Va.)
Johnson went 2-1 last week, including a no-hitter of Eastern Mennonite in which one baserunner reach and she faced one batter above the minimum.  In that contest -- a 3-0 win over EMU -- Johnson fanned seven in a full seven frames.  She worked three innings in a 12-0 five-inning victory at Bridgewater.  She gave up two hits and struck out three.  Her loss came to Guilford, 3-2.  She gave up three runs on three hits with three walks and four strikeouts in five innings.

Kelly Higbie, Roanoke (Sr. - Midlothian, Va.)
Higbie went 1-0 with a save last week as Roanoke swept Shenandoah.  Higbie went the distance in game one, scattering five hits with a walk and three strikeouts in a 1-0 shutout of the Hornets.  She came back to throw two frames in the second game, surrendering four hits with four K's to save a 10-6 RC win.  Higbie is two strikeouts away from becoming the all-time leader in Roanoke history.

Kristina Karagiorgis, Virginia Wesleyan (Sr. - Ashburn, Va.)
Karagiorgis gave up just three hits on her way to three wins last week.  She tossed a four-inning one hitter against Sweet Briar, fanning eight in the 16-0 five-inning win.  She did not surrender a hit in an 8-0 shutout at Emory & Henry.  She walked four and struck out 10 in six innings.  She finished her week with six shutout innings towards a 9-0 win at Guilford.  She gave up two hits and walked one to go with nine strikeouts.  Karagiorgis has now won her last 13 decisions and leads the ODAC with 13 wins.
