  • NCAA Division III Swimming Championships: Day-by-Day Recap
    March 21, 2017
    It was a historic weekend for the nine ODAC swimmers that traveled to Shenandoah, Texas, for the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, especially those wearing Washington and Lee apparel. Eight Generals combined to secure 21 All-American awards over four days of competition at the CISD Natatorium.
  • Nine ODAC Competitors Set for NCAA Swimming Championships

    Nine swimmers from ODAC schools are just hours away from competing in the 2017 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at the Conroe ISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas. A total of 527 competitors (479 swimmers and 48 divers) will spend four days with action slated to begin the morning of Wednesday, March 15 and continuing thru Saturday, March 18.
  • Generals Win ODAC Men's and Women's Swimming Titles

    Washington and Lee University completed its third straight sweep of the ODAC Swimming Championships on Sunday evening, capturing the men's and women's conference titles after three days of competition at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C. The Generals racked up 1,042 points to win their 10th consecutive and 27th overall women's championship and collected 1,047 points on the way to wrapping a third title in third season for men's swimming as an official conference championship sport.
  • ODAC Swimming Championships: Live Streaming and Information

    Just like the previous three seasons, the ODAC is set to stream all sessions of the 2017 ODAC Swimming Championships. The ODAC will have multi-camera webcasts of all six sessions (prelims and finals) of the championships for both men and women. All streams will be FREE of charge.

    As we prepare to enter a new month, ODAC athletes continue to ramp up performances in anticipation of postseason play. The first championship of the season is just two weeks away.     We had a full contingent of sports for the second week running, and the performances were nothing short of stellar as teams and athletes progress thru the winter campaign.     Indoor track returned to action over the weekend, joining basketball and and swimming to bring the winter season to full strength.     Swimming returned to action over the past week, with basketball continuing its season. Indoor track also got in the action for its lone set of competitions prior to the turn of the calendar.   • Michaela Nolte, Emory & Henry, Sr.
    December 05, 2016
    Nolte, a senior from Hillsborough, N.C., put together seven strong performances at the Transylvania Invitational, resulting in a pair of NCAA B-cut swims. Nolte picked up her B-cuts in winning both the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke events, posting times of 1:04.85 and 2:21.13, respectively. She finished second in the 50-yard freestyle in 0:24.21. All three times rank second in their respective events in the ODAC this season. Nolte also competed in four relays, helping the Wasps win the 400-yard freestyle in 3:35.98. She and her E&H teammates finished second in the 200-yard medley (1:49.69), 400-yard medley (4:01.71), and 200-yard freestyle (1:39.12) relays.

    The fall sports have officially completed their seasons, but basketball opened up play last week to help fill the void.   • Bridgewater Approves the Addition of a Men's Swimming Program

    The Bridgewater College board of trustees has approved the addition of men's swimming as an NCAA sport beginning in the 2017-2018 academic year. Recruiting for the program will begin immediately.

    Football capped its regular season over the weekend, but basketball is just on the horizon and will join the men's and women's swimming awards in weekly honors starting next week.   • Scott Thacker Named Roanoke College's First Swimming Coach

    Roanoke College announced Wednesday that Scott Thacker has been named the Maroons first men's and women's swimming head coach. Thacker comes to Salem after serving as the Director of Competitive Swimming for the Shenandoah Marlins Aquatic Club in Waynesboro, Va.
  • Marlins Tab Ginder to Be First Head Coach of New Swimming Programs

    Mike Ginder, assistant swimming coach at Bucknell University, has been named the first men's and women's swimming coach at Virginia Wesleyan College, according to Joanne Renn, Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.

  • Previewing the 2016-17 ODAC Men's Swimming Season

    ODAC men's swimming embarks on its third full season of competition in 2016-17, with one additional squad joining its ranks. Greensboro College is set to return to ODAC waters after a season away, bringing the conference's contingent to five programs joining fellow associate member Ferrum College and full-time league teams Hampden-Sydney College, Randolph-Macon College, and Washington and Lee University.
  • Washington and Lee Tops ODAC Women's Swimming Poll

    Nine-time reigning conference champion Washington and Lee University earned eight first place votes on the way to 64 total points to lead the 2016 ODAC Women's Swimming Preseason Poll. Emory & Henry College picked up the remaining top vote towards 54 tallies, while Randolph-Macon College is hot on the Wasps' heels with 53 points in the annual coaches' survey.
  • Guilford Tabs Cox as New Women's Swimming Head Coach

    Local club coach Ashley Cox was named head coach of Guilford College's women's swimming team Wednesday. She marks the fourth head coach in school history and replaces Amanda Fontenot, who resigned in July to take a position at the University of Maryland.
  • Virginia Wesleyan to Add Men's and Women's Swimming for 2017-18

    Virginia Wesleyan College will add men's and women's swimming to its list of NCAA Division III sponsored sports in 2017-18, according to Joanne Renn, Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. Renn said that the addition of swimming will increase to 20 the number of intercollegiate sports at the residential liberal arts college. The teams will compete in the natatorium of the Jane P. Batten Student Center.
  • Roanoke Announces the Addition of Men's and Women's Swimming

    Roanoke College Director of Athletics Scott Allison announced Wednesday the addition of men's and women's swimming to the Maroons' NCAA Division III sponsored sports. Roanoke, which now has 21 athletic programs, will begin competition in 2017-18 and a national search for a head coach will begin immediately. The two programs will swim at the Salem YMCA which is located on Roanoke's Elizabeth Campus.

  • Emory & Henry Tabs Skinner for Men's and Women's Swimming Post

    The Emory & Henry College Department of Athletics and Director of Athletics Myra Sims are pleased to announce the hiring of Cody Skinner as Head Men’s & Women’s Swimming Coach. Skinner comes to Emory & Henry after spending the past two seasons as the Assistant Men’s & Women’s Swimming Coach at Union College in Schenectady, New York. During his time with the Dutchmen, Skinner assisted with on-deck coaching, equipment, travel coordination and recruiting. In those two seasons, he saw 12 school records broken and coached four NCAA Qualifiers and six All-Americans.
  • Randolph to Add Swimming, Tabs Steele to Lead Program

    Randolph College is pleased to announce the addition of women's and men's swimming programs, which will begin competition in the 2017-2018 academic year. Along with announcement of the new programs, Director of Athletics Tina Hill announced the hiring of Taylor Steele as the new head coach of both programs.
  • Emory & Henry Set to Expand Athletics Program in 2017-18
    July 15, 2016
    Emory & Henry College will add women's golf and men's swimming as varsity sports beginning with the 2017-18 academic year, Director of Athletics Myra Sims announced Friday. Both programs will compete as members of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
