Almond, a sophomore from Estes Park, Colorado, took first place in three individual events as Randolph-Macon Swimming earned a 150-100 victory over Bridgewater College Saturday in Ashland. R-MC took first place in 11 of the 12 events along with both exhibitions. Almond (Estes Park, CO/ Estes Park) touched first in the 100 yard backstroke (1:04.68), 50 yard freestyle (26.00) and 100 yard freestyle (57.78) to lead Randolph-Macon with 27 points.
Swimming Honor Roll
Danielle Dillon, Bridgewater College, Freshman
Dillon turned in a solid performance in just her sixth
collegiate meet, winning a pair of individual events and a relay
despite the Eagles falling on the road at Randolph-Macon, 150-100.
Dillon turned in victories in the 200-yard individual medley
(2:28.86) and the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:43.10) while
also boasting a third place finish in the 500-yard freestyle
(5:42.28) event on a busy afternoon for the Roanoke, Va.
native. Finally, Dillon swam the leadoff leg for BC's 400-yard
freestyle relay (4:06.69) which was victorious by nearly 42
seconds.
Lauren Starnes, Washington and Lee University,
Sophomore
Starnes took first in both the 200 free (2:00.10) and 500
free (5:24.30) events as W&L competed at Gettysburg on
Saturday. The Generals fell to the Bullets, 142-122.
