  • Saluting the Winter ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athletes

    Five student-athletes from Old Dominion Athletic Conference member schools earned a 2012-13 ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete Award during the winter athletic schedules. Farm Bureau Insurance is the proud presenter of each award for the ODAC's 23 sponsored sports.

    Bridgewater senior guard Jessica Mullen and Hollins senior guard Jasmine Greene earned All-South Region recognition as D3hoops.com announced its annual all-region awards. Mullen earned a spot on the second team, while Greene was tabbed to the third team.

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2013 ODAC/StellarOne Sportsmanship Teams in each of five winter sports sponsored by the conference. This marks the fourth year the league has recognized these fine student-athletes for their excellence in sportsmanship.
  • EMU Falls to Marymount in NCAA Women's Basketball First Round

    EMU's basketball season came to a close Friday night, as the Royals fell 55-42 to Marymount University in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament in Newport News, Va. The women held the Saints to just 33% shooting, but struggled to hit their own shots as they wrap up the year 21-7. Eastern Mennonite's women notch just their fifth 20-win season in program history but their second in a row.

    Tia Perry collected a game-high 15 points, five rebounds and six steals in Christopher Newport University's 66-47 win over Guilford College Friday night in an NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament game.
  • EMU Joins GC in the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament

    Guilford College will be joined by Eastern Mennonite University in the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament, marking the second time in three years that the ODAC has received multiple entries in the women's ranks. The Quakers' entry into the tournament was guaranteed after earning the conference's automatic bid by winning the league crown, but the Royals had to wait to learn if their season would continue as one of 20 at-large selections.
  • Guilford Claims Second Straight ODAC Women's Basketball Title

    Guilford College guard Brittany Atwater sunk a runner in the lane with seven-seconds to play to put the Quakers ahead 61-59, a margin which proved championship-clinching as Eastern Mennonite University's last-second attempt fell off the front rim to secure Guilford's second straight ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament crown.

    Bridgewater guard Jessica Mullen headlines the 2013 All-ODAC Women's Basketball Teams as the Eagles' standout was tabbed the ODAC Player of the Year in a vote of the league's head coaches. Eastern Mennonite mentor Kevin Griffin was named the ODAC Coach of the Year, while Randolph-Macon forward Katie Anderson earned ODAC Rookie of the Year accolades. Washington and Lee forward Katy Wilson earned recognition as the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

  • W&L Women's Basketball Flies Past Emory & Henry, 69-48

    The Washington and Lee women's basketball team shot 75.0 percent (18-24) from the field in the first half to take a 42-23 lead into halftime en route to a 69-48 victory over Emory & Henry in ODAC Tournament first round action on Monday at the Warner Center.
  • LC Advance 83-70 over Randolph in ODAC Tournament

    The fifth-seeded Lynchburg College women's basketball team defeated a pesky Randolph College squad Monday evening 83-70 in the first round of the 2013 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship Tournament. The Hornets advance to the quarterfinals where LC will face #4 Bridgewater College Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Salem Civic Center.
  • R-MC Defeats Roanoke, 72-64, in the First Round of the ODAC Tournament

    The Randolph-Macon women's basketball team defeated Roanoke College, 72-64, in the first round of the 2013 ODAC Championship Tournament on Monday night. The Yellow Jackets will face Guilford College on Thursday in Salem, Va. at 6:00 p.m.
  • SU Top HU, 69-64, in First Round Action

    Sixth-seeded Shenandoah University punched its ticket to Salem with a 69-64 ODAC Tournament opening round victory over No. 11 Hollins Monday evening. Shenandoah (12-14) moves on to the women's tournament quarterfinals, where it will face No. 3 Virginia Wesleyan in the 8:00pm game Thursday evening.
  • ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament Pairings Set

    The last date of the ODAC women's basketball regular season has been a big moving day in terms of tournament seeds over the past few years, and Saturday was no different. Eastern Mennonite University put the caps on a 15-1 conference slate to earn the #1 seed and a first round bye into next week's ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament.

    Guilford College received eight first place votes and 118 poll points as the Quakers were chosen atop the 2012 ODAC Women's Basketball Preseason Poll. Eastern Mennonite University chimes in second with 114 points, including the remaining for top nods. Virginia Wesleyan College and Bridgewater College sit tight for third with 92 and 89 points, respectively.

    Guilford College basketball standout Gabby Oglesby earned 2012-13 D3hoops.com Preseason Second Team All-America recognition Monday. The website made its annual selections based on the previous season's All-America and All-Region teams.
  • Calhoun Tabbed to Shenandoah Women's Basketball Post

    Shenandoah University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Doug Zipp announced Monday that C.K. Calhoun has accepted the post of head women's basketball coach. Calhoun, the third full-time head coach in program history, comes to SU after two years as the lead assistant at fellow ODAC school Randolph-Macon College.
