FOREST, Va. --- Washington and Lee University improved upon its all-conference haul from a season ago with three all-league selections and a trio of special honors to highlight the 2022-23 All-ODAC Women's Basketball Awards.

Generals first-year post Mary Schleusner collected both ODAC Defensive Player of the Year and ODAC Rookie of the Year laurels, while head coach Christine Clancy earned her second straight ODAC Coach of the Year plaque in a vote of her peers. Guilford College forward Lindsay Gauldin received ODAC Player of the Year distinction, and Randolph-Macon College guard/forward Catherine Kagey garnered ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year recognition from the league's athletic communications personnel.

Much like last year, seven stars earned All-ODAC recognition for at least a second straight season. Gauldin and Kagey are both repeat All-ODAC First Team choices along with Randolph College playmaker Kylie Stark. W&L guard Hanna Malik moves up from the 2021-22 All-ODAC Third Team to this year's first team.

Bridgewater College post Jaden Alsberry appears on the All-ODAC Second Team following a third team selection last year. Teammate and fellow post player Erika Nettles repeats on the third team, while Randolph guard Teniyah Crenshaw-Patterson followed up her ODAC Rookie of the Year and second team awards last season with a third team assignment this season.

Gauldin, a graduate student from Stokesdale, N.C., is now a three-time All-ODAC selection pairing this year's first team honor with the same distinction last year and a second team honor in 2018-19. She was also the ODAC and D3hoops.com South Region Rookie of the Year during the latter season. Gauldin enters the 2023 ODAC Tournament tied for the league lead in scoring at 16.0 points per game. She also leads the conference in steals (89) and is second in total points scored (399). She ranks third in the league in field goals made (144-of-284) and free throws made (93-of-144) and is fifth in field goal shooting (50.7%). Gauldin has scored in double figures in 21-of-25 games played with three games of at least 30 points scored and seven outings of 20 points or better. She scored a season-high 31 points in a victory over Averett University (86-78) in late November. Defensively, Gauldin registered seven games of at least five steals including a pair of seven-swipe efforts in wins at Virginia Wesleyan University (58-37) and over Shenandoah University (69-58).

Schleusner, a first-year from Charlotte, N.C., is the first player to earn both the ODAC Player and Rookie of the Year awards in the same season since the conference began honoring a top defensive player in 2019. She pairs these two honors with an All-ODAC First Team selection. Schleusner, a three-time ODAC Player of the Week, leads the conference in blocked shots (75), total rebounds (283), and offensive boards (88). She is second in rebounding average (11.3) and defensive boards (195) and fifth in scoring (13.4), total points (336), and field goals made (135-of-301). Schleusner's blocked shots total -- the second-most in Generals' single-season program history (99 by Jessica Hunsinger in 2006-07) -- is powered by 13 games of at least three rejections. She blocked a season-high eight shots in a win over Bridgewater (61-55), the second-most in a game in program history. Schleusner has collected 10 double-doubles and owns the top-two rebounding totals in the W&L single-game record book, setting the team record with 23 boards to go with 25 points in a win over Roanoke College (86-69).

Clancy, in her 11th season directing W&L's women's program, has collected her first two ODAC top coaching laurels over the past two seasons. In her 12th year overall as a collegiate head coach, Clancy has led the Generals to a second straight 16-2 record during conference games, tying a program record for ODAC wins in a season. At 19-6 overall, W&L is one win shy of tying another team record. Washington and Lee is currently ranked fourth in Region VI by the Division III Women's Basketball Championship Committee. W&L is the top seed in the ODAC Tournament in search of a second program title. Entering the postseason, Clancy owns a 180-118 (.604) overall record including 158-112 (.585) at W&L.

Kagey, a junior from Roanoke, Va., stars on and off the floor for Randolph-Macon as she pairs this honor with a second straight All-ODAC First Team nod. In the classroom, Kagey maintains a 4.0 grade point average as a biology and chemistry double-major. The perennial Randolph-Macon Dean's List and ODAC All-Academic Team honoree is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta honor society for academic excellence. She donates her time as an on-campus tutor to service initiatives like the Green Bandana Project for mental health awareness and suicide prevention and InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.

On the court, Kagey is a three-time ODAC Player of the Week selection this season. She is second in the ODAC in field goals made (150-of-287), third in scoring (15.9), rebounding (9.1), total boards (219), and defensive rebounds (154). She is fourth in total points scored (381) and field goal shooting (52.3%) and fifth in free throws made (78-of-126). Kagey has registered six double-doubles including back-to-back efforts with 28 points and 10 boards in a win over Wisconsin-Oshkosh (55-49) and 22 points and 16 rebounds in a victory over St. Norbert (55-43). She has scored in double figures in 19-of-24 games played with seven outings of 20 or more points.
