Eugenie Rovegno, Washington and Lee, Jr., Defense

Rovegno, a junior from Duxbury, Mass., spearheaded a Generals defense that allowed just 13 goals to a pair of top caliber opponents as Washington and Lee moved up four spots in the IWLCA poll to fourth in Division III. Rovegno forced a pair of turnovers and registered a game-high nine draw controls in an 11-8 victory at Christopher Newport University, which is receiving votes towards the IWLCA survey. She added one ground ball and helped W&L shutout the Captains in the fourth quarter. Rovegno then led an even better defensive outing in a 6-5 victory over traditional power and fifth-ranked Salisbury University. Rovegno posted a game-high three caused turnovers to go with seven draws and three ground balls. The Generals defense surrendered four goals in the opening frame, but then only allowed one of the final 45 minutes of action that featured a shutout over the entire second half.
