Buell, a sophomore from New Albany, Ohio, went 8-2 on the week, competing in five of six matches for Washington and Lee as the Generals went 4-2. Buell went 4-1 at #2 singles, posting wins versus Roanoke (6-0, 6-1), Shenandoah (6-0, 6-0), Tufts (6-2, 6-0) and Sewanee (6-2, 6-3). She and partner Cameron Dorsey went 4-1 at #2 doubles with wins against RC (8-0), SU (8-0), Tufts (8-4) and Sewanee (8-2). Buell's only losses came to second-ranked Amherst. For the spring campaign, Buell owns a 6-3 singles record (5-3 at #2) and a 7-4 doubles record (5-1 at #2).
Women's Tennis Honor Roll
Dina Velazco, Randolph -
(Fy., - Barquisimeto, Venezuela)
Velazco had a solid week for the WildCats, especially in singles
action as the first-year posted a 3-0 record at No. 1 and No. 2
singles. Velazco earned straight set wins over Sweet Briar and
Bridgewater at No. 2 singles before moving up to No. 1 singles
Saturday to help the WildCats past Emory & Henry 5-4. She also
earned a doubles win against Sweet Briar at No. 1 pairs.
Angelina Sportelli, Randolph-Macon College

Sportelli posted three singles wins and one victory in doubles
action during R-MC's four matches this week. Sportelli, the Yellow
Jackets' number one singles player, picked up an 8-6 win over
Delaware State to start the week. She then pulled out a tightly
contested match with Messiah 6-2, 6-4, 1-0 (10-4) before finishing
singles action with a 6-4, 6-2 win at Philadelphia University. In
doubles competition, Sportelli's lone win came at University of the
Sciences, 8-0.
Jennifer Antoszyk, Roanoke - (SO, -
Charlotte, NC)
Antoszyk went 1-0 in singles and 1-1 in doubles play last
week. In a win over SVU, Antoszyk earned RC a point with a
6-1, 6-0 win at #1 singles. She followed that with a 8-1 #1
doubles win with partner Corbin Leitch. The duo fell to
W&L, 8-2, in #1 doubles in the Generals' 5-0 team win.
Sarah Manter, Sweet Briar College - (SR,
#1 Singles - Brunswick, Maine)
Manter led SBC to its first ODAC victory on Wednesday. Manter came
back from being down a set to upend Randolph College’s #1
singles player Patricia Verdezoto. Manter’s 6-4, 7-7 (7-5)
win gave SBC a 5-4 edge over the WildCats. Heading into the last
set, Manter and Verdezoto were the last two playing with the
overall score tied at 4-4.
