R-MC Advances to ODAC Title Game with 64-59 Triumph over H-SC

SALEM, Va. --- Clutch free throws down the stretch from Connor Sullivan propelled Randolph-Macon College to a 64-59 victory over Hampden-Sydney College en route to the ODAC Basketball Tournament Championship final.

The Yellow Jackets improve to 18-9 on the season and 13-4 in ODAC play. The Tigers end their regular season 23-4.

R-MC was led by 14 points from Chris Hamilton, while Lamar Giggetts added in 11 markers. Akeem Holmes chipped in with seven points along with 11 rebounds. The Yellow Jacket bench outscored the H-SC bench 37-27, led by Evan Jackson andJoe Hassell who each posted six points.

The Tigers were led by Harrison George who posted a double-double of 15 points and 10 boards. Khobi Williamson and Cam Anderson joined George in double-digits with 16 and 10 points, respectively.

H-SC jumped out to a four point lead with a layup by Anderson at the 13:46 mark in the first half.

The Yellow Jackets chipped away at the lead and took a six point advantage after a Lamar Giggetts jumper, assisted by Marcus Badger, with a little over eight minutes to play.

Hampden-Sydney answered with a 22-14 run to take a 36-34 lead into the intermission.

The Tigers opened up the second stanza with a 6-1 run to take its largest lead of the game after the first five minutes of play.

H-SC led until the nine minute mark when Jackson made a layup, assisted by Joe Hassell, to give R-MC the one point lead at 51-50. The Yellow Jackets did not give up the lead for the remainder of the game to secure the victory.

Randolph-Macon will be back in action Sunday, February 24th at 3:30 p.m. against the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan for the ODAC Championship title game.
