ODAC Men's Basketball Tournament | 10-Team Field Determined

FOREST, Va. --- The same logo appears at the top of the ODAC Men's Basketball Tournament field for the third straight season as Randolph-Macon College enters the conference postseason with the #1 billing. The Yellow Jackets are one of six squads to earn a bye thru the first round to the quarterfinals in Salem, Va., with the conference's 10-team format set to begin on campus on Tuesday.

The Yellow Jackets, rated second in the country by D3hoops.com as well as in the South Region by the NCAA men's basketball committee, posted a 15-1 record in league play for a second straight season. Unlike in 2018-19, however, R-MC will not have a long winning streak heading to the Salem Civic Center as its 11-game run was snapped by Guilford College on Saturday afternoon.

There are three ties in the final standings, but the field's top-three entrants were unaffected by any instance. Virginia Wesleyan University and Washington and Lee University, respectively, join Randolph-Macon in forming that group. Both teams are ranked in the region with VWU sixth and W&L eighth. The Marlins are slotted 18th nationally by D3hoops.com.

The first tied scenario between Guilford and Roanoke College for the fourth seed was solved by the simplest of the league's tiebreaking procedures. The Quakers victory in their lone matchup during the regular slate earned GC fourth position. The Maroons will play as the fifth seed.

The tiebreaker for the coveted sixth seed -- the final position to earn a bye thru the first round -- was a bit more complex. Ferrum College and the University of Lynchburg split their two regular season meetings. The ODAC's second step, which awards points based on results throughout a team's conference schedule, saw the Hornets earn the higher seed and the final automatic quarterfinal spot. The Panthers will host one of two first-round games on Tuesday as the seventh seed.

The other first-round host will be Hampden-Sydney College, which enters as the eighth seed. The Tigers welcome ninth-seeded Bridgewater College to campus. The final team in the field is Emory & Henry College. The 10th-seeded Wasps travel to Ferrum for their first round tilt.
