ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament | Four Ties Dot Final Standings

FOREST, Va. --- Ties aplenty dominate the final ODAC women's basketball standings, including each of the top-six positions in the ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament field. Four separate ties dictated team placement with Saturday's results playing a major part in setting up the 10-team postseason bracket.

Emory & Henry College knew it needed a win on the final day to lockdown the tournament's first seed. That's just what the South Region's sixth-ranked team did as the Wasps win over Bridgewater College put them into a stalemate with Washington and Lee University for top-billing. E&H's overtime victory over the Generals in the regular season provided the determining factor, with W&L entering the tourney as the second team.

Bridgewater, with its loss at Emory & Henry, fell into a tie with Randolph-Macon College for the third seed. The Eagles defeated the Yellow Jackets in their lone regular season meeting, awarding third position to BC and the fourth seed to Randolph-Macon. R-MC may be the hottest team in the league with the Yellow Jackets riding a current ODAC-best six-game winning streak as they head to Salem.

Defending ODAC champion Shenandoah University featured in the third tie in the league table with Roanoke College. Both teams won on the final day to leave a lock for the last two spots that are accompanied by byes thru the first round. Shenandoah topped the Maroons twice during the regular slate, putting the Hornets fifth and RC sixth.

Guilford College and the University of Lynchburg will host first round matchups on Monday as the outright seventh and eighth seeds. Hollins University earned ninth position free from a deadlock and will travel to Lynchburg for first round play. The 10th-seed not only needed tiebreakers to determine, but the deciding result came thru on the final day of play. Virginia Wesleyan University held serve at home against Ferrum College, setting up a tie with the Panthers for the final spot. Saturday's showdown marked their lone meeting of the year, affording the Marlins the head-to-head margin and awarding them the 10th seed.
