ODAC Players of the Week

BASEBALL
Drew Crawford, Guilford, Jr., Pitcher
Crawford, a junior from Newport, Tenn., Twirled an eight-inning gem in Guilford's 8-1 win at Lynchburg in his first start as a Quaker. He scattered five hits (all singles), walked three and struck out four while allowing just one run (earned). The outing was his fourth and longest of the season, lowering his ERA to 3.94.

BASEBALL
Mitchell Keeler, Randolph-Macon, Fr., Catcher/Des. Hitter
Keeler, a freshman from Mechanicsville, Va., put together hit for the cycle in which he accounted for 10 of Randolph-Macon's 13 runs scored in a 13-11 win over Hampden-Sydney. Keeler went 5-for-5 with four runs scored and six runs batted in. He had an RBI double to get the scoring started in the bottom of the first. He belted a three-run homer in the third to make it 9-1 in favor of R-MC. He tripled in one more run in the fifth before batting in his final run with a single in the seventh frame. Keeler, who did not play in R-MC's first nine games, has had three straight multi-hit outings and is batting .667 on the season.

GOLF
Patrick Clossin, Washington and Lee, Sophomore
Clossin, a sophomore from Ooltewah, Tenn., led the Generals to a ninth-place finish at the Taylor Made Adidas Intercollegiate held at the Cotton Dike Course in Dataw Island, S.C., by finishing fifth overall. Clossin carded a 74-77-80--231 (+15) to finish 10 strokes behind the individual champion at the event. For the season, the sophomore is averaging 76.2 strokes over 13 rounds played.

GOLF
Elizabeth Cheng, Hollins, Junior
Cheng, a junior from Virginia Beach, Va., started off the spring campaign where she left off in the spring, corralling her third win of the year at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational. After posting a first round score of 9-over 81, she followed up with a 1-under 71 marking the low-round of the tournament. She capped play with a 4-over 76 for a three-round total of 228 (12-over) on the par-72 5,838-yard track at Indian Mound Golf Club in Jekyll Island, Ga. The 120-player field was populated with 11 of the top 20 golfers in NCAA Division III. Cheng has placed in the top-five in all five events she's played this season. She leads the ODAC with a 76.3 per-round stroke average.

MEN'S LACROSSE
Pat Ohrem, Lynchburg, Sr., Attack
Ohrem, a senior from Ridgfield, Conn., helped lead the sixth-ranked Hornets to a pair of wins last week, including a 25-6 conference triumph over Guilford. Ohrem had a goal and an assist in a tight 5-4 win over McDaniel College. He also picked up four groundballs. He followed that with three goals and a helper in LC's win at Guilford. Ohrem now has 14 points on 11 goals and three assists this season.

MEN'S TENNIS
Hayden White, Washington and Lee, Senior
White, a senior from Baltimore, Md., helped lead the Generals to a 3-1 week by posting a 3-0 singles record and a 3-1 doubles mark. He opened the week with an 8-0 with Christopher HU at #2 doubles against Randolph-Macon. He followed that with 6-1, 6-0 triumph at #1 singles and an 8-0 win at #2 against Randolph. White added a 6-4, 6-4 win at #1 singles in the 23rd-ranked Generals 6-3 loss to 24th-ranked Mary Washington. He and Hu lost their doubles match, 8-2. White and Hu rebounded with an 8-4 win against Emory & Henry, with White winning 7-5, 6-1 in singles play. White has won eight straight singles matches this spring, with the only loss occurring against the No. 1 player from NCAA Division I Elon in the spring opener. For the season, he has recorded a 16-5 singles mark and a 10-7 doubles record.

OUTDOOR TRACK
Tom Sippie, Lynchburg, Freshman
Sippie, a freshman from Toms River, N.J., opened his first outdoor campaign with three strong races and his first appearance in the javelin at the Dr. Jack Toms Open. He and teammates Rachad Davis, Curtis Whitlow and Zachary Kezar won the 4x100-meter relay in 43.16 seconds, ranking tops in the ODAC and 12th in NCAA Division III. Sippie went on to place second overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.81 seconds. That is #1 in the conference and fifth in the nation so far this season. He added a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash in 49.17, which is second in the conference and seventh in the country. Sippie added a 19th-place showing in the javelin with a mark of 28.90 meters (94' 10.0").

OUTDOOR TRACK
Janey Fugate, Washington and Lee, Sophomore
Fugate, a sophomore from Atlanta, Ga., only ran in one event in her first outdoor appearance at the Dr. Jack Toms open, but it was a big one. Fugate won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.92, posting not only the ODAC's top time of the year, but also topping the NCAA Division III ranks by nearly a second. The time is a new standard at Washington and Lee, snapping the previous mark of 1:03.59, which she set last season.

SOFTBALL
Stephanie Cameron, Shenandoah, Jr., Pitcher
Cameron, a junior from Ocala, Fla., made six appearances for Shenandoah last week, all starts covering 32.0 innings of work. She allowed only 13 hits with six walks, while fanning 42 batters. She posted an earned run average of 0.66. Of the 13 runs she gave up, only three were earned. Cameron went 4-1 with a save, posting a pair of complete games. She struck out nine in a 6-3 win over York (Pa.), and followed with eight strike outs apiece in her next three starts in victories over Sweet Briar (14-0), Castleton (13-2) and Randolph (4-3). In her remaining start, Cameron threw 10 innings and surrendered six runs (two earned) on four hits with three walks and six strike outs in a 6-5 loss to Lynchburg. Earlier in the week, she picked up her first save of the season with three innings of relief in a 5-3 win in game two over York. For the season, Cameron owns a 9-2 record. She leads the ODAC in innings pitched (74.0), ERA (0.85) and strike outs (83).

SOFTBALL
Madison Gilman, Randolph-Macon, Fr., Catcher
Gilman, a freshman from Glen Allen, Va., helped lead the Yellow Jackets to a 6-0 week by batting .524 with 14 runs batted in. Randolph-Macon posted doubleheader sweeps of Averett, Catholic and Guilford in improving to an ODAC-best 15-2 on the season. Gilman had five multi-hit games in her 11-for-21 week with five doubles. She also had at least one RBI in each contest, with three apiece coming in wins over Averett (9-3), Catholic (6-5) and Guilford (7-0). R-MC's catcher added a pair of stolen bases to her stat line. Gilman is batting .449 on the season. She is tied for the league-lead in doubles (7) and runs batted in (25). Her eight hit-by-pitches also top the conference, aiding her to a .525 on-base percentage (7th).

WOMEN'S LACROSSE
Kathleen Wager, Roanoke, Sr., Midfielder
Wager, a senior from Lexington, Va., helped lead the Maroons to a pair of one-goal victories last week. Included in that effort was a 13-12 triple overtime triumph over Washington and Lee in which Wager netted the game-winner. She posted four goals and assisted on another against Generals. She also pulled in four draws. Over the weekend against Drew University, Wager tallied five times in Roanoke's 14-13 victory. She grabbed five groundballs and five turnovers, and also caused a pair of turnovers. For the season, Wager, who didn't play in the first two games, has 12 points on 11 goals and one assist.

WOMEN'S TENNIS
Katie Gordon, Bridgewater, Junior
Gordon, a junior from Winchester, Va., went undefeated at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles during five matches over Spring Break in Hilton Head. In singles, Gordon won all five matches in straight sets, losing a total of just seven games. Nine of her 10 sets were won by scores of 6-0 or 6-1. In doubles, Gordon played with two different partners at No. 1 and was 5-0 on the week. In the five matches, she and her partner lost a total of just 13 games. Gordon and the Eagles posted victories over Ohio Wesleyan (8-1), St. Mary's (5-4), Marietta (8-1), Salve Regina (9-0) and Olivet (8-1) in improving to 8-0 on the season.
