ODAC Players of the Week

BASEBALL - PITCHER
Reggie Johnson, Hampden-Sydney, Sr., Pitcher
Johnson, a senior from Dunnsville, Va., moved to 3-1 on the season in working 8.2 shutout innings to help Hampden-Sydney blank Roanoke, 4-0. Johnson surrendered just four hits and walked three. He fanned six batters. Johnson's effort lowered his earned run average to 2.36 in 38.2 innings of work, the fifth most in the ODAC.

BASEBALL - HITTER
John Wilt, Shenandoah, Jr., Shortstop
Wilt, a junior from Mountville, Pa., registered four extra-base hits among his nine knocks on the week, going 9-for-18 overall to help the Hornets to a 3-1 week. He also drove in 10 runs, scored three times and stole two bases. Wilt hit a two-run shot in a 9-5 loss to Mary Washington, but followed that with a 3-for-4 showing with two more runs driven in in a 5-1 win over Washington and Lee. Wilt finished the week going 5-for-10 in a sweep of Guilford. That included a 4-for-5 effort with two doubles and three RBI in an 8-7 game-two win. He hit a three-run homer in the first game, helping SU to an 8-1 victory. For the season, Wilt is fifth in the ODAC with a .400 batting average. His .615 slugging percentage ranks fourth.

MEN'S GOLF
Hayden Combs, Washington and Lee, So.
Combs, a sophomore from Kennet, Mo., went under-par twice on the way to tying for fifth at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational. Combs opened with a 2-under 70 before firing an even-par 72 in round two. He finshed the three-round affair with a 1-under 71 to post a 213 total at 3-under par. His efforts helped the 29th-ranked Generals finish 11th in the 30-team field, which featured 17 of the top 40 teams in the country. Washington and Lee posted team rounds of 291, 287 and 301 on the way to a 15-over 879. Combs currently boasts a 73.3 scoring average thru seven rounds of competition.

WOMEN'S GOLF
Christina Herbert, Bridgewater, So.
Herbert, a sophomore from Williamsburg, Va., came up one stroke shy of tying for medalist honors at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational, an event that featured 12 of the top-30 individuals and 13 of the top-40 teams in the country. Herbert finished at even-par 216, posting rounds of 72, 71 and 73. She was eight strokes clear of the next closest ODAC competitor. Emily Javadi of Sewanee won the individual title at 215 (71-72-72). Herbert's efforts helped #16 Bridgewater to fourth in the team standings. The Eagles carded rounds of 308, 318, and 312 on the way to a 74-over 938. Herbert currently boasts a 74.64 scoring average, which is among the nation's leaders.

MEN'S LACROSSE
Aaron Murphy, Lynchburg, Sr., Attack
Murphy, a senior from Downingtown, Pa., led the Hornets to a 2-1 week that featured a pair of games against two of the top-six ranked teams according to the latest USILA coaches poll. Murphy opened the week with three goals and three assists in a 14-12 come-from-behind win over Endicott. Each of his goals came consecutively in the fourth quarter, erasing a 12-10 deficit and turning it into a 13-12 lead. At the Greene Turtle Classic, Murphy scored four goals as LC opened with a 16-8 setback to #3 RIT. He helped the Hornets recover with two goals and three assists as Lynchburg handed sixth-ranked York (Pa.) its first loss of the season via a 9-7 decision. Murphy, who also picked up 11 ground balls on the week, is fourth in the ODAC with 32 points on 17 goals and 15 assists, the latter ranking second in the ODAC.

MEN'S TENNIS
John Adam, Randolph-Macon, Sr., #1 Singles/#1 Doubles
Adam, a senior from Vienna, Va., helped Randolph-Macon to a pair of victories by going 4-0 over two matches each in top-flight singles and doubles action. He posted a 6-3, 6-4 win over Matthew Muoio at #1 singles in the Yellow Jackets 9-0 victory over Albright. He and Baxter Carter won 8-5 over Muoio and Ken Richardson at #1 doubles. In a 7-2 trimph over Southern Virginia, Adam won 7-6, 6-1 over TJ Snelson in singles competition, and then again joined Baxter for an 8-6 #1 doubles win over Snelson and Justin Fullmer.

MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK - FIELD
Davis Turner, Washington and Lee, Jr., Jumps
Turner won the high jump at the W&L Carnival, posting the ODAC's top mark of the season at 1.86m. He also competed in the long jump, placing third with a personal best leap of 6.53m. Turner added an 18th place finish in the 100m dash in 0:12.11.

MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK - TRACK
Tyler Denlinger, Eastern Mennonite, Jr., Mid-Distance
Denlinger, a junior fro Perkasie, Pa., put together a pair of strong runs at the W&L Carnival, taking over the top spot in the ODAC in both events. He finished second in the 1,500-meter run at 4:02.34, and then added an eighth place finish in the 800-meter run in 1:58.72. His 800-meter time is faster than the second-best ODAC athlete by more than five-seconds.

WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK - FIELD
Dana Lee, Washington and Lee, Jr., Jumps/Sprints
Lee, a junior from Nashville, Tenn., shined both on the track and in the field for the Generals at the W&L Carnival, but it was in the jumps where she made the most noise. Lee won the long jump with a leap of 5.68 meters, which stands as the best in the ODAC and the second-longest leap in NCAA Division III so far this season. She also competed in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, establishing ODAC top times in both events. She won the 100-dash in 0:12.72 and came in second in the 200-dash in 0:25.97.

WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK - TRACK
Kaleigh Hinton, Washington and Lee, So., Hurdles
Hinton, a sophomore from Florham Park, N.J., put together a pair of impressive showings in the hurdles at the W&L Carnival, establishing her personal bests in both disciplines. Hinton took over the top spot in the ODAC in both the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles, winning the latter event in 1:07.86. She came in second in the 100m hurdles, posting a time of 0:16.58.

SOFTBALL - PITCHER
Lauren Seale, Eastern Mennonite, So., Pitcher
Seale, a sophomore from Madison, Va., registered a five-inning shortened no-hitter as the Royals defeated Southern Virginia 19-0 as part of a doubleheader sweep. Seale allowed just two runners to reach base via a pair of walks. She struck out six batters and at one time set down nine batters straight. She also helped herself at the dish, going 2-for-3 with a grand slam and two runs scored. For the season, Seale is 2-1 with a 1.71 earned run average in 28.2 innings of work. She's fifth in the ODAC with 36 strikeouts.

SOFTBALL - HITTER
Taylor Carter, Roanoke, Sophomore, Outfielder
Carter, a sophomore from Roanoke, Va., was perfect from the plate in the Maroons doubleheader sweep (5-2, 10-3) of Southern Virginia. She was 5-for-5 overall with a double, two homers, five runs driven in, and four runs scored. She also walked once and stole three bases. Carter was 3-for-3 in game one with a double and homer. She scored once and stole a base. She then went 2-for-2 with a walk in game two, belting a grand on the way to four RBI and two runs scored. She also stole two bases. Carter's slash line for the week was gaudy 1.000/1.000/2.400. She is currently third in the ODAC with a .500 batting average. Her .532 OBP and .795 slugging percentage each rank sixth. She's third in the league with 22 hits and 10 stolen bases.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE
Claire Feeney, Roanoke, Sr., Attack
Feeney, a senior from Old Greenwich, Conn., registered 16 points in helping Roanoke to a 2-0 week. She scored twice and dished out two assists with four draw controls in a 24-3 triumph at Hollins. Feeney then scored seven goals in a game for the fourth time in her career as the Maroons put a stop to Centre's seven-game winning streak via a 19-11 decision. Feeney added five assists for 12 points, tying for the fourth-most in a single-game in RC history. She added five grouind balls and four caused turnovers in the contest. For the season, Feeney leads the ODAC with 33 points. Her 22 goals are second, while the 11 assists she's recorded rank fourth.

WOMEN'S TENNIS
Tessa Hill, Washington and Lee, Fr., #2 Singles, #1 Doubles
Hill, a freshman from Canton, Ohio, helped Washington and Lee to a 2-1 week that included a pair of matches against nationally-ranked competition. Hill went 2-1 in singles play and 2-1 in doubles action, teaming with Brooke Donnelly at the top flight. Hill and Donnelly won 8-3 over Sumvruta Iyengar and Melanie Martin in W&L's 9-0 win over Texas-Dallas. The W&L duo posted a 9-8 triumph over Madie Benn and Michelle Fuca in the Generals' 8-1 triumph over 17th-ranked Skidmore. Hill and Donnelly's final match came agaisnt nationally top-ranked Williams, where the due fell 9-7 to the 2015 #1 tandem and the 2016 sixth-ranked pairing of Juli Raventos and Linda Shin. Hill claimed a 4-6, 6-1, 10-6 comeback victory over UTD's Sophie Farmer in #2 singles play. She then bested Skidmore's Benn 5-7, 6-3, 10-7 in a second #1 singles come-from-behind effort. She finished the week with a 6-1, 6-0 loss to 25th-ranked Mia Gancayco from Williams.
