Hayden Combs, Washington and Lee, So.

Combs, a sophomore from Kennet, Mo., went under-par twice on the way to tying for fifth at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational.  Combs opened with a 2-under 70 before firing an even-par 72 in round two.  He finshed the three-round affair with a 1-under 71 to post a 213 total at 3-under par.  His efforts helped the 29th-ranked Generals finish 11th in the 30-team field, which featured 17 of the top 40 teams in the country.  Washington and Lee posted team rounds of 291, 287 and 301 on the way to a 15-over 879.  Combs currently boasts a 73.3 scoring average thru seven rounds of competition.

Men's Golf Weekly Honor Roll

Rhett Martin, Bridgewater (Sr.)
Martin led Bridgewater at the Marlin Invitational by tying for 11th overall.  He posted rounds of 72-74-78 to finish at 14-over 224.  BC finished third as a team at 304-301-302--907.

Salah Sayess, Guilford (So.)
Sayess shot a Guilford-best 219 at the Jekyll Island Collegiate, firing a 77 in round one before going under par with a pair of 71's over the final 36 holes finish at 3-over 219.  Guilford placed 18th as a team at 892 (303-288-301).

Hall Rupert, Virginia Wesleyan (So.)
Rupert finished second at the Marlin Invitational, helping lead VWC to their second team title of the season. Rupert fired rounds of 72 and 71 before posting a career-best 2-under 68 to help him to a 1-over 211 for the tournament.  VWC carded a 19-over 859 in topping the team standings.
