Bluffton stays perfect with 2-0 win over EMU

September 10, 2010

LANSDALE, Penn. - The Bluffton University men's soccer team improved to 2-0 on the season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over EMU on Friday, Sept. 10, 2010. The contest, played at Christopher Dock High School, was part of the Menno Soccer Classic in Lansdale, Pennsylvania.

Although EMU took seven more shots (18-11) than the Beavers, a Jason Hudson (Troy) score midway through the second period was all the Beavers needed as Dan Saville (Toledo/Central Catholic) continued to impress in goal, posting his second blanking of the season.

Bluffton and EMU both finished with five corner kicks, while Bluffton was whistled for 13 infractions, compared to 10 for the Royals. EMU put six shots on frame, two more than the Beavers.

Jason Hudson, Brian Good (Elida) and Jacob Graham (Gomer/Elida) all tallied two shots for the victors, while Saville stayed perfect with four saves.

The Bluffton men are now scheduled to meet Goshen College in day two of the Menno Soccer Classic. Their final match of the weekend is slated for 1 p.m. at Christopher Dock High School.
