Jordan Farmer, Guilford, Sr., Defensive
Line
Farmer, a senior from Advance, N.C.,
helped the Quakers record the first shutout in the 18-game history
of the Gate City Soup Bowl as Guilford defeated Greensboro College,
52-0. Farmer helped GC keep The Pride outside of the Quakers' red
zone all night, recording seven total tackles with 2.5 tackles for
a loss. Among those stops behind the line were 1.5 quarterback
sacks, one of which resulted in a fumble that was returned 39 yards
to setup a Quaker touchdown. Farmer forced a pair of fumbles on the
day as Guilford pressured Greensboro into five miscues. In all,
Guilford held Greensboro to just 277 yards of total offense,
compared to 525 yards for the Quakers.

FOOTBALL
Kevin Saxton, Emory & Henry, Fr.,
Quarterback
Saxton, a freshman from Monroe, N.C.,
burst on the scene to play in big part in Emory & Henry's 41-12
thumping of Ferrum on Saturday, marking the first win in the
inaugural game of head coach Curt Newsome's tenure. Saxton, a
transfer from Appalachian State University, went 17-for-28 for 329
yards and five touchdowns in his first collegiate action. The five
touchdowns tie for the third-most in program history, joining the
five throw by Kyle Boden in 2013. Saxton completed passes to eight
different receivers, hooking up with them on six completions of 20
or more yards. It was the first time E&H had started a freshman
quarterback since the 2008 season.

FIELD HOCKEY
Maggie Waxter, Washington and Lee, So.,
Attack
Waxter, a sophomore from Baltimore,
Md., helped the Generals to a 3-1 week by scoring one goal in each
contest this week. She has also now scored in all five of W&L's
games in 2014, with her five tallies tying for the most scored by a
General in all of 2013. Waxter a goal each in wins over
Transylvania (5-0) and Hendrix (3-1), followed by one more in a
loss to Rhodes (2-1). Her final tally of the week proved to be the
game-winner in a 4-2 triumph over Sewannee. All four Generals' wins
came on the road.

MEN'S SOCCER
C.J. Stevens, Randolph, Jr.,
Goalkeeper
Stevens, a junior from Mechanicsville,
Va., helped the WildCats to a pair of wins at the Tiger/WildCat
Classic, earning MVP honors in the process. Randolph's shot-stopper
proved just that in a 1-0 win over Penn St.-Abington as he saved a
penalty kick in the 80th minute to preserve the WildCats lead and
eventual victory. He made two overall saves in that contest.
Stevenson followed up that effort with six saves in a 5-0 victory
over Marymount (Va.). Thru four games played, Stevens leads all
ODAC keepers with a 0.26 goals-against-average and a .941 save
percentage, having allowed only one goal this season.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
Angela Bosco, Lynchburg, Sr.,
Forward
Bosco, a senior from Long Island,
N.Y., put together a seven-point week as the Hornets moved to 4-0
with a pair of wins on the weekend. Bosco scored once against
nationally fifth-ranked Johns Hopkins, but it proved a big one as
she slotted home the game-winner in the second overtime period to
give LC a 2-1 victory. She camed back with two goals and an assist
in a 4-0 win over Franklin & Marshall College. The seven points
mark Bosco's first of the season.

VOLLEYBALL
Alex Kinzer, Washington and Lee, Jr.,
Setter
Kinzer, a junior from Greenville,
S.C., kept the Generals' offense humming as Washington and Lee went
4-0 at the W&L Invitational. Kinzer earned MVP honors after
dishing out 141 total assists, including a pair of matches in which
she averaged more than 10 assists per set. She averaged 9.4 per set
overall. Kinzer also racked up 10 aces and 27 digs while posting 10
total blocks. She picked her spots well in attack, registering 12
kills. In a 3-1 win over Maryville (Tenn.), she handed out 34
assists with four kills, two aces, eight digs and five blocks.
Kinzer has handed out 946 assists so far this season, good for a
9.11 per set average.

CROSS COUNTRY
Mac Strehler, Washington and Lee,
So.
Strehler, a sophomore from Moseley,
Va., paces the Generals to a second place team finish at the
Sewanee Invitational. Strehler completed the eight-kilometer course
in 26:28.12 to finish second among 69 runners. He was the top NCAA
Division III finisher, proving 28-seconds faster than the next
runner from the D-III ranks.

CROSS COUNTRY
Alana Babington, Washington and Lee,
So.
Babington, a sophomore from Mobile,
Ala., helped Washington and Lee to a fourth place showing in the
team standings at the Sewanee Invitational. Babington completed the
six-kilometer course in a career-best time of 24:23.84, which
ranked fourth overall out of 74 runners. She defeated her previous
career-low time by nearly two-seconds, which she established in
2013 at the NCAA regional meet.
