Randolph-Macon earned an at-large bid and will join ODAC automatic qualifier, Virginia Wesleyan, in the NCAA D-III Men's Basketball Tournament, as announced on the D-III selection show. R-MC will head to the College of Wooster (Ohio), where it will meet Capital (Ohio) in the first round. VWC earned a bye and will host its second round opponent.

The 2011-12 ODAC athletic campaigns continue as the calendar flips to a new year. The holiday season left only a handful of men's and women's basketball games in which fans could indulge, but there were several top performances among them. The Thanksgiving break limited action throughout the past week in ODAC offerings, but those that did play showed very well on the hardwood. Lynchburg's Manny Hernandez put together a pair of 21 point games in helping the Hornets to a 2-0 week. Bridgewater's Jessica Mullen posted an ODAC-high 31 points with six steals in a win over LC.
The fall sports are in the books, but men's and women's basketball opened its schedule last week with ODAC student-athletes posting some solid outings on the hardwood. Virginia Wesleyan picked up eight first place votes towards 98 total points as the Marlins return to the top of the ODAC Men’s Basketball Preseason Poll for the first time since 2006-07. Hampden-Sydney sits second with 90 tallies and three top nods. Just one point separates Guilford (72) and Randolph-Macon (71) for third in the annual survey.
