ODAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

THRU WEEK PRIOR TO: DECEMBER 5, 2011

INDOOR TRACK
Zander Tallman, Washington and Lee, Sophomore
Tallman, a sophomore from Grand Blanc, Mich., set the benchmark high in the first meet of the season as he placed in the top-10 overall and was the first NCAA Division III finisher in both the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes as the Liberty Kickoff over the weekend. Tallman was seventh overall with a time of 23.02 seconds in the 200 dash, equaling his event winning time on the same track at the 2011 ODAC Indoor Championships. He placed 2nd overall in the 400 dash with a time of 50.57 seconds, which is .04 seconds faster than his winning time from last year's conference meet.

INDOOR TRACK
Janey Fugate, Washington and Lee, Freshman
Fugate, a freshman from Atlanta, Ga., started out her collegiate career with a bang as she posted a pair of top-10 overall finishes amongst her three events at the Liberty Kickoff over the weekend. She was the first NCAA Division III finisher and placed third overall in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.26. She went on to be the second D-III finisher in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 9.91 seconds. Fugate joined Jennifer Friberg, Jillian Katterhagen and Lauren Woodie in the 4x400-meter relay in placing sixth overall and the first D-III squad to cross the line in 4:12.00.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Colton Hunt, Randolph, So., Guard
Hunt, a junior from Whittier, N.C., picks up the third weekly award of his career after leading the WildCats to a pair of ODAC victories against Bridgewater and Washington and Lee last week. Against BC, Hunt set the school record for points in a contest with 30 on 10-of-14 shooting from the field. He also pulled down seven rebounds, came away with five steals and dished out four assists. Saturday against W&L, Hunt didn't shoot as well from the floor, but he connected on all 13 of his free throw attempts on his way to 19 points. He also corralled six boards and handed out four assists. For the week, Hunt averaged 24.5 points on 14-of-22 shooting (.636). He connected on 20-of-21 charity tosses (.952), and averaged 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.5 steals.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Bianca Ygarza, Eastern Mennonite, So., Forward
Ygarza, a sophomore from Conestoga, Pa., ran her streak of scoring in double digits to six straight games and helped EMU to 6-0 record. For the week, she was an eye-popping 17-of-23 from the floor for 74% and hit 14-of-18 free throws. She nearly averaged a double double, coming in with marks of 16.0 points and 9.0 rebounds. She also had 10 steals and five assists in the three games. In Monday’s comeback win at rival Bridgewater, Ygarza had 18 points and tied a career best with 15 rebounds to go with seven steals. She added 19 points in the win over Roanoke, and another 11 against Hollins. She leads the ODAC with a 65.9 FG%, and is in the top ten in the ODAC in points, rebounds, steals, total free throws and free throw percentage.

SWIMMING
Meredith Hardy, Washington and Lee, Sophomore
Hardy, a sophomore from Cary, N.C., helped lead Washington and Lee to a second place finish at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational over the weekend. Hardy set in a new ODAC seasonal top time in winning the 200-yard freestyle. She touched the wall in 1:56.04, eclipsing the previous ODAC high by more than four seconds. Hardy participated in five other events as she finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (56.40) and joined her teammates in four relays: 400-yard medley (2nd - 4:0306), 800-yard freestyle (2nd - 8:00.22), 400-yard freestyle (3rd - 3:39.87) and 200-yard freestyle (5th - 1:41.10).
