J.D. Ey, Washington and Lee, Sr., Forward
February 18, 2013Ey, a senior from Charlotte, N.C., helped the Generals to a 2-0 week and secure the eighth seed in the ODAC men's basketball tournament. He recorded two double-doubles and scored the 1,00th point of his career. For the week, he totaled 33 points (16.5 ppg), 23 rebounds (11.5 rpg.), five assists (2.5 apg.), five steals (2.5 spg.) and three blocks (1.5 bpg.). He scored his 1,000th career point in the second half against Shenandoah on Saturday. He finished the game with 23 points, including 19 in the second half, and dropped in the game-winning basket with 14 seconds left after stealing the Hornets inbounds' pass. He is the only player in W&L history with at least 1,000 career points, 800 rebounds, 200 assists, 150 blocks and 100 steals. He leads the ODAC in rebounds per game (9.6) and blocks per game (2.2). -
Chris Astorga, Virginia Wesleyan, Sr., Forward
February 11, 2013Astorga, a senior from Suffolk, Va., helped Virginia Wesleyan post three road wins last week, including a non-conference triumph over #16 Christopher Newport and a pair of ODAC wins over Eastern Mennonite and regionally-ranked Guilford. In a 79-66 win over CNU, Astorga dropped in 17 points and corralled eight rebounds to go with a pair of assists. He followed that with 15 points, six rebounds, two assists and a steal in a 70-65 win over Eastern Mennonite. Over the weekend, Astorga poured in 22 points with nine boards and two assists. He made four three-pointers. For the season, Astorga is fourth in the conference in scoring at 16.2 points per game.

Khobi Williamson, Hampden-Sydney, Jr., Center
February 04, 2013Williamson, a junior from Norfolk, Va., helped the #19 Tigers to a pair of conference wins last week as he averaged 24 points and 10.5 rebounds while shooting 76.9-percent from the field. In an 81-70 win over Lynchburg, Williamson made 7-of-11 field goals on the way to 18 points. He added nine rebounds, an assist and a blocked shot. On the weekend, Williamson upped the ante with 30 points on 13-of-15 shooting (86.7%). He was 4-of-4 from the line for the second straight game. He added 12 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. He also chipped in two blocks and an assist. For the season, Williamson is #1 in the ODAC in field goal shooting (65.9%) and seventh in the league in scoring (15.2 ppg).

Colton Hunt, Randolph, Sr., Guard
January 28, 2013Hunt, a senior from Whittier, N.C., earns his fourth weekly award of the season after helping the WildCats to a 2-1 record and averaging 30.3 points per game last week. The ODAC's leading scorer (26.2 ppg) enters this week ranked second in the country, a mark that was aided by a pair of 30-plus point efforts for Randolph. He opened with a career-high tying 36 markers on 13-of-26 shooting in an 80-63 win at William Peace. He added six rebounds, four assists and three steals. During the midweek, Hunt poured in 33 points as he made 14-of-16 free throws in a 79-63 loss to Hampden-Sydney. He chipped in nine rebounds, four assists and three more takeaways against the Tigers. Hunt capped his week with 22 points on 8-of-17 shooting in a 65-50 win at Shenandoah. He was 4-of-6 from three-point range, and added five boards, two assists and a steal against the Hornets.

Harrison George, Hampden-Sydney, Sr., Forward
January 21, 2013George, a senior from Raleigh, N.C., put together a pair of strong all-around performances in helping the Tigers to two ODAC wins last week. He opened his week with 12 points, five boards, two assists and three steals in a 70-60 home win over Randolph-Macon during the midweek. He shot 5-of-8 from the field and chipped in a blocked shot. In a 104-94 win over Eastern Mennonite, George exploded for 25 first-half points on his way to a game-high 33 tallies, his second-highest career total and the fifth-highest total in the ODAC this season. He was 13-of-17 from the field and 6-of-10 from the line in his 27 minutes of action. He added nine rebounds, five assists and a pair of steals to his stat line. For the season, George is fifth in the ODAC in scoring at 15.4 points per game. He's also third in field goal percentage (62.3) and fifth in steals (34).

Josh Pittman, Guilford, Sr., Guard
January 14, 2013Pittman, a senior from Archdale, N.C., led the Quakers to a pair of conference wins, extending Guilford's winning streak to eight games, the program's longest since 2010. In an 82-68 win at Emory & Henry during the midweek, Pittman came up two points shy of a career-high as he poured in 32 points to go with five rebounds, a pair of steals and a blocked shot. He was 9-of-17 from the field, including 7-of-13 from three-point territory. He was also 7-of-9 from the foul line. The seven three-pointers are the most made by an ODAC student-athlete this season. Pittman continued his hot outside shooting as he buried 5-of-6 from downtown and went 6-of-8 from the charity stripe on the way to 21 points in a 77-66 win at Eastern Mennonite. He tacked on five rebounds and four assists. For the week, Pittman shot 63.2-percent (12-of-19) from downtown. He is currently first in the ODAC in three-pointers made (47), second in free throw shooting (82.2%) and assists (76), and third in scoring (16.9 ppg).

Zeb Richardson, Guilford, Fr., Center
January 07, 2013Richardson, a freshman from West Jefferson, N.C., helped Guilford to a pair of wins last week, including a conference victory over Hampden-Sydney over the weekend to extend the Quakers' winning streak to six games. Richardson opened his week with the fourth double-double of his rookie campaign in an 84-61 non-conference win over Methodist. He tied a career-high with 17 points to go with a career-best 15 rebounds. Seven of his boards came via the offensive glass. He also blocked a shot and went 5-for-5 from the foul line. Richardson was again perfect from the stripe (6-for-6) in a 68-54 triumph over H-SC. He registered 14 points to go with six rebounds and a block. Richardson is currently second in the ODAC in rebounding at 8.3 boards per game. He has scored in double figures in nine straight games, elevating his scoring averaging to 11.8 points per contest.

Colton Hunt, Randolph, Sr., Guard
December 31, 2012Hunt, a senior from Whittier, N.C., continued his torrid start to the season by closing out the 2012 portion of the WildCats' schedule with his eighth and ninth games with at least 23 points scored. Randolph won twice last week, improving its record to 11-0 for the best start in program history (previous of 6-0). Hunt dropped in 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting in a 70-48 win over Johns Hopkins in the first game of the Bojagles Holiday Challenge, hosted by Hampden-Sydney. He added five boards and two assists. Hunt went on to score 27 points to go along with eight rebounds in a 75-73 overtime win over Huntingdon College. He not only forced overtime with a three-pointer with 57 seconds to play in regulation, but he also made the game-winning lay-up with 20 seconds to go in overtime. He was named to the all-tournament team for his efforts. For the season, Hunt leads the ODAC in scoring at 26.5 points per game. He entered the holiday season fourth in the country in scoring (26.6 ppg).

Julian Ramirez, Roanoke. So., Guard
December 17, 2012Ramirez, a sophomore from Palmyra, Va., helped lead the Maroons to a 97-87 win over Averett University, which also snapped Roanoke's three-game losing streak. Ramirez scored 19 of his team-high 27 points in the first half as he buried 6-of-7 shots from the field including a 5-for-5 showing from beyond the arc. He finished the contest 9-of-12 from the field and 4-of-6 from the foul line to account for his career-high scoring output. He also notched a game-high seven assists to go with three rebounds and a pair of steals. Ramirez, who averages 11.5 points per game, is currently third in the ODAC with 42 assists (5.3 apg) through eight games played.

Colton Hunt, Randolph, Sr., Guard
December 10, 2012Hunt, a senior from Whittier, N.C., picks up his second straight weekly honor after helping Randolph to three more wins to stay unbeaten at 8-0 on the campaign. Hunt broke the WildCats' scoring record twice and notched a pair of double-doubles as he averaged 28.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game while shooting 62.5-percent from the field. He opened his week with 14 points and 10 boards for his second career double-double in a 99-45 win over Christendom. In a 78-59 victory, Hunt made 13-of-12 shots form the field on his way to a career- and program-best 35 points to go with five boards and four steals. He one-upped himself in an 83-51 triumph over Shenandoah as he notched 36 points on 13-of-18 shooting from the field that included a 3-of-6 performance from beyond the arc. He added 12 boards, five assists and four steals to complete his stat line. Hunt currently leads the ODAC in scoring at 26.4 points per game.

Colton Hunt, Randolph, Sr., Guard
December 03, 2012Hunt, a senior from Whittier, N.C., has helped lead Randolph to a tie for the best start in school history at 5-0, including a pair of ODAC wins last week. In a 65-61 win over Bridgewater College, Hunt notched the first double-double of his career with 28 points and 11 rebounds. He made 13-of-17 shots from the line in the win. He followed that with 23 points, five rebounds and a pair of steals in a 67-52 win over Washington and Lee. He converted 9-of-10 from the line, also making 7-of-15 shots from the field. For the week, Hunt averaged 25.5 points and eight rebounds per contest. He leads the ODAC in scoring at 25.2 points per game.

Andrew Thorne, Eastern Mennonite, Sr., Wing
November 26, 2012Thorne, a senior from Front Royal, Va., helped Eastern Mennonite to a pair of wins with back-to-back 25-point outings as the Royals moved to 4-0 on the season. Thorne was 7-of-14 from the field and 10-of-12 from the four line to account for 25 points in addition to 12 rebounds in a 101-79 win over Frostburg State. He also chipped in three assists and a pair of steals. Thorne then poured in 11-of-14 field goals, including a pair of three-points, for his second straight quarter-century scoring output in an 83-72 triumph over Marymount (Va.). He added eight boards, two assists and a steal in that contest. So far this year, Thorne is tops in the ODAC in rebounding at 9.0 boards per game, and is fourth in scoring at 19.0 points per game.

Kwasi Amponsah, Roanoke, Sr., Guard
November 19, 2012Amponsah, a senior from Woodbridge, Va., was named the MVP of the Equinox Classic hosted by Haverford College. Amponsah averaged 26.5 points to help Roanoke open the season 2-0 for the first time since the 2007-08 campaign. He opened his senior campaign with 19 points, four rebounds and two steals in the Maroons 87-82 victory over Swarthmore College. He followed that effort with a 34-point explosion in a 75-72 triumph over host Haverford. He was 12-of-16 shooting, including 5-of-5 from beyond the arc. He added three rebounds, four steals and one important blocked shot in the final seconds to help clinch RC's win. Amponsah, last year's ODAC scoring champion, is just 93 points from becoming the 34th player in Roanoke history to reach the 1,000-point plateau.
