The Short Story: The Roanoke College women's volleyball team returned to ODAC play on Friday evening, falling on the road to the University of Lynchburg, 3-0

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Maroons took an early 4-0 lead early in the first set and led by five at 12-7. However, the Hornets used a five-point run to pull even and took the lead at 14-13.
• Lynchburg led by one at 20-19 and scored five of the final six points to take a 1-0 set lead.
• The Hornets pulled away early and led by 11 at 15-4. The two teams would trade small runs with each scoring 10 of the final 20 points in the set with the Hornets claiming set two 25-14 and a 2-0 set lead.
• The third set saw Roanoke take an early lead and maintained it to 16-15. Lynchburg would use runs of four and five points to take the lead and claim the third set 25-17 and the match, 3-0.

BY THE NUMBERS

• Rylee Mayer led the Maroons with a team-high 9 kills. Peyton Kirchner was right behind her with eight kills.
• Kylee Draper reached double-figure assists with 21.
