The Short Story: MC Petrucelli scored in the 24th minute to put the Roanoke College women's soccer team ahead 1-0 on the No. 1 team in Division III, but Christopher Newport scored twice in the second half to escape Kerr Stadium with a 2-1 win over the Maroons.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was Roanoke who got on the board first on the defending national champions 1-0 when MC Petrucelli took a pass in the box from Lauren Rubino and found the back of the net to put the Maroons ahead 1-0 at 23:22.
- It took until the 58th minute before the Captains evened the match at 1-1.
- CNU would score the game-winner in the 79th minute by Nyah Savage.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Petrucelli has scored a goal in each of the past three games.
