The Lead: The Roanoke men's soccer team was on the road for their regular season finale at Emory & Henry on Saturday evening. The Maroons were looking to gain some momentum on the heels of the start of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament that is scheduled to start on Tuesday. The Maroons took a 2-0 lead into the half and came out in the second half to pull away for the regular season ending win.

Highlights:

  • Roanoke was awarded a penalty kick just over 15 minutes into the match. Liam Camilleri converted the PK to give RC a 1-0 lead.
  • Michael Chang added to the advantage when he scored from the top of the box to give Roanoke a 2-0 lead at the break.
  • Just over three minutes into the second half, Nathan Carey took a pass from Jake Berecz to make it 3-0.
  • Camilleri scored off an assist by Gabriel Hendi before Hendi scored a goal of his own from Chris Jerrild, during a Roanoke run. Carey would add RC's fourth goal during the 10 minute stretch.
  • Alec Taitague scored off a feed from Dylan Berk to make it 7-0.
  • In the final minutes of play, Till Schumacher picked up a loose ball to close out the match.
  • Zach Behe got the start and played the first half in net, recording one save, before giving way to Christian Mercadante for the second 45 minutes as the two combined on the shutout.
