2022 ODAC Volleyball Tournament News

Fourth-seeded Randolph-Macon College is back atop the ODAC women's volleyball podium as the Yellow Jackets battled through three tough sets to defeat second-seeded Averett University, 3-0 (26-24, 25-21, 26-24), in Danville on Sunday afternoon. The victory for Randolph-Macon (23-6) marks its seventh overall ODAC volleyball title and first since hoisting the last of three straight trophies in 2017. While the Yellow Jackets have now made 13 appearances in the final league match of the season, this was the first championship experience for Averett (20-11) since the Cougars joined the ODAC in July as the conference's 15th full-time member.

The road to the 2022 Old Dominion Athletic Conference volleyball championship will go through Averett University. The second-seeded Cougars battled back to take down No. 3 seed Washington and Lee University 3-1 in Friday's ODAC Tournament semifinals in the Grant Center.

The top-seeded Washington and Lee volleyball team won the final five points of the match to sweep third-seeded Virginia Wesleyan, 3-0, and win the 2021 ODAC Championship on Sunday in Holekamp Gym.

Behind a combined 25 kills from senior outside hitters Leah Green (Longwood, Fla. / Lake Highland Preparatory School) and Brynne Gould (Boone, N.C./Watauga), the 22nd-ranked and top-seeded Washington and Lee volleyball team defeated sixth-seeded Randolph-Macon, 3-0, to claim the 17th ODAC Championship in program history on Saturday evening at Holekamp Gym.

The first spring ODAC volleyball season enters its postseason week with the return of a familiar school headlining the championship field with 16-time ODAC champion Washington and Lee University perched atop the eight team bracket. The Generals completed their regular season slate at 13-0 overall and 11-0 in conference play to earn top-billing in the ODAC Tournament.

Virginia Wesleyan made the most of its second appearance in an ODAC volleyball championship match as the Marlins won an outstanding battle at the net with Randolph-Macon, 3-1, to hoist their first conference trophy in program history. With the win, VWU earns the ODAC's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament.

The second-seeded Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team dropped #3 Guilford, 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-14), Friday evening in the semifinal of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship. With the victory, the Marlins improve to 27-7 on the year. The team will now square off against top-seeded Randolph-Macon in the Final which will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday in Ashland, Va.

Randolph-Macon continued its strong play against ODAC opponents on Saturday afternoon, completing a straight-sets run thru the conference tournament that included a 3-0 victory over Washington and Lee for the ODAC title in Ashland. The championship is the fifth overall and second straight for the Yellow Jackets.

The second-seeded Generals defeated fourth-seeded Lynchburg, 3-1, in the ODAC Tournament Championship on Saturday at Randolph-Macon to claim the title. W&L earns the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament, which is set to begin opening round play next week.

The Lynchburg College volleyball team advanced to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) championship game after defeating top-seeded Randolph-Macon College, 3-1, early Saturday. LC won 25-21, 25-22, 21-25, 25-23 in a very close match, and it gave the team its highest win total since 1981.

R-MC is now 23-5 overall and will take part in the 2011 NCAA Tournament beginning next Friday at a time and location to be announced Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. on NCAA.com.

The Randolph-Macon Volleyball team secured its second consecutive Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship with a 3-2 victory over top-seeded Washington and Lee Saturday afternoon in Roanoke.

Third-seeded Virginia Wesleyan College rallied for a 25-18, 17-25, 22-25, 25-12, 15-9 victory over number-six Guilford College Friday night in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinal. The Marlins (22-9) advance to the tournament semifinals to play second-seeded Randolph-Macon College, which defeated Bridgewater College, 3-0. Guilford concludes its best volleyball season since 1995 with a 16-13 overall record.

The Lynchburg College volleyball team defeated Roanoke College in the quarterfinals of the ODAC on Friday night (27-29, 25-9, 23-25, 25-18, 15-6) in a five-set thriller. Lynchburg will now move on to the semifinal matchup on Saturday against the first-seeded Washington and Lee, which defeated Emory & Henry 3-0 earlier in the day.

Randolph-Macon won its first ODAC volleyball championship on Saturday afternoon, upholding its billing as the No. 1 seed with a 3-1 win over seventh-seeded Roanoke. The Yellow Jackets earn the ODAC's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III Tournament.

For the second straight year, the ODAC Volleyball Tournament championship match will feature the No. 1 and No. 7 seeded teams. Randolph-Macon continued to live up to its top billing with a straight sets win over Bridgewater. Roanoke kept its upset run in motion with a 3-1 over Lynchburg. Three of the top four seeds advanced in the ODAC Volleyball Tournament on Friday afternoon, with the lone upset shaking up the tourney field. Randolph-Macon (#1), Lynchburg (#3) and Bridgewater (#4) were joined by Roanoke (#7) after the Maroons ousted Washington and Lee (#2) from the tourney.
