Eagles Ease Past Gophers for Second Straight

TOWSON, Md. - Bridgewater (Va.) College jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one quarter as it went on to post an 18-4 non-conference women's lacrosse victory over Goucher College Saturday afternoon at Beldon Field.
- Bridgewater (4-2) got on the board 4:57 into the contest on a Madeline Magill goal.
- The Eagles got five goals from four different goal scorers as it opened up a 5-0 lead through 15 minutes.
- The visitors outshot Goucher (1-6) 10-2 in the period.
- The Eagles scored the first three goals of the second quarter to build an 8-0 advantage 2:31 into the period.
- The Gophers got on the board with just over 10 minutes before halftime as Amaya Locke (Bowie, Md./Bowie) found a cutting Katherine Luetgens (El Segundo, Calif./El Segundo) as Luetgens scored her sixth goal of the season.
- Bridgewater added two goals to take a 10-1 lead into intermission.
- Bridgewater reeled off the first three goals of the period before Katie Kebrich (Towson, Md./Towson) won the draw and took it in herself to score to make it 13-2.
- The Eagles tacked on three more goals to build a 16-2 lead.
- Bella McKinney (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) scored for Goucher with 11:41 remaining, with Molly Smith (Damascus, Md./Damascus) assisting on the goal.
- After a Bridgewater goal at 9:34, Luetgens scored her second of the game, with Lelia Webb (Harrisburg, Pa./Trinity) notching an assist with 3:56 on the clock.
- The Eagles closed out the scoring with just under a minute left.
- Bridgewater held a 33-12 shot advantage and won 21 of the game's 26 draws as it won its second straight.
- Smith, DJ Howell (Jamaica, N.Y./Frederick Douglass Academy) and Carla Caballero (Dallas, Texas/Greenhill School) each had a pair of caused turnovers.
- Howell also had a team-high three ground balls.
- Sydney Lewis (Baltimore, Md./Carver) made five saves in goal in the first half, while Belle Christ (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) made a pair of stops over the final 30 minutes.
- Goucher is on the road for its next four games, starting with a 4 pm contest at Notre Dame (Md.) Wednesday.
- The Gophers are back home Saturday, April 1, hosting Juniata in a 1 pm Landmark game at Beldon Field.
