
BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Mary Baldwin baseball traveled to play Bridgewater College on Tuesday, losing by a score of 14-2.
Mary Baldwin jumped out to an early lead by scoring a run in the first. Michael Robertson walked and raced around to third on an errant pickoff attempt. Robertson scored on Noah Kessler's RBI-groundout for a 1-0 MBU lead.
Bridgewater responded by scoring two runs of their own in the bottom of the first to take the lead for good. The Eagles' pitching kept the Squirrels to just three hits the rest of the game. The Eagles capitalized on five errors by Mary Baldwin had for a four runs in the fifth and four more in the seventh.
The Squirrels scored their final run in the ninth inning on a Tyler Smith home run.
Smith went 2-for-4 on the day with a home run and Robertson was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.
MBU is back in action Wednesday (March 7) when the Squirrels travel to Lexington, Va., where they face Washington and Lee University in non-conference action.
