  • UWO Three-Pointer Ends Generals Historic Season

    The Washington and Lee women's basketball team made a furious fourth-quarter rally, but a made three-point jumper from UW-Oshkosh's Jenna Jorgensen pushed the Titans past the Generals, 58-55, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday.

    ODAC champion Washington and Lee University will be the lone ODAC team representing the conference in the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship, as announced by the Division III Women's Basketball Championship Committee on Monday afternoon. Washington and Lee (22-6) is making just its third appearance in the Division III women's basketball postseason, but 2023 marks its second straight berth. The Generals also entered the national bracket in 2010 following the program's first ODAC title.
  • Generals Hoist Second ODAC Women's Basketball Trophy

    Washington and Lee University has another trophy to add to its championship mantle as the top-seeded Generals defeated seventh-seeded Shenandoah University, 73-57, in the ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament title game on Sunday afternoon. The Generals (22-6), now two time ODAC champions with this victory joining the program's first crown in 2010, receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship set to begin next weekend. Announcement of the tournament's 64-team bracket is set for Monday, February 27 at 3:00 p.m. ET on NCAA.com.
  • ODAC Announces 2022-23 All-ODAC Women's Basketball Awards

    Washington and Lee University improved upon its all-conference haul from a season ago with three all-league selections and a trio of special honors to highlight the 2022-23 All-ODAC Women's Basketball Awards. Generals first-year post Mary Schleusner collected both ODAC Defensive Player of the Year and ODAC Rookie of the Year laurels, while head coach Christine Clancy earned her second straight ODAC Coach of the Year plaque in a vote of her peers. Guilford College forward Lindsay Gauldin received ODAC Player of the Year distinction, and Randolph-Macon College guard/forward Catherine Kagey garnered ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year recognition from the league's athletic communications personnel.

  • ODAC Announces Women's Basketball Tournament Field

    Saturday's slate of regular season finales featured six league games with nearly each having bearing on position in the upcoming ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament bracket. When the dust settled, the top two seeds in the conference's 10-team field are the same for the second straight season with Washington and Lee University and Randolph-Macon College occupying those positions, respectively.

    The crossover season is nearly upon us with spring sports getting ready to begin as a couple of winter sports wind down. Week 23 brough us within days of closing the first wrestling regular season since 1980 with its championship set for this coming Saturday at Shenandoah. Swimming will also compete for an ODAC trophy this week with four days of action in Greensboro. Men's and women's basketball is just a couple of weeks away from finalizing the league tables for ODAC Tournament qualification.     Our sixth edition of the ODAC's "Title IX Talk" feature series highlights individuals from four ODAC schools and the conference office as we talk to our biggest group yet. Four individuals from conference school's join Haley Overstreet, the ODAC Director of Championships, to discuss several topics surrounding their experiences with Title IX. Those joining Haley include Allison Nichols, the women's basketball head coach at the University of Lynchburg, Ashley and Melissa Smeltzer-Kraft, the head coaches for field hockey and women's basketball at Shenandoah University, respectively, and Bethany Dannelly, the current associate athletic director at Washington and Lee University and former ODAC Director of Championships.

  • Randolph-Macon Picked Atop ODAC Women's Basketball Poll

    Since 2003, Randolph-Macon College has not gone more than three seasons without hoisting a conference women's basketball trophy, securing nine of its overall 10 championships along the way. The Yellow Jackets are favored to capture another title entering the new season as they top the 2022-23 ODAC Women's Basketball Preseason Poll. Randolph-Macon secured seven first place votes to power its haul of 136 points to lead the 13-team annual coach's survey. Randolph College ranks second -- its highest ranking in an ODAC women's basketball poll ever -- with 127 markers including a pair of top nods. Washington and Lee University collected three first place votes on the way to 116 tallies, and Roanoke College garnered the remaining #1 billing on the way to 112 points in fourth position.

  • Virginia Wesleyan Announces Lewis as Women's Basketball Head Coach

    Quntashea Lewis, head basketball coach at Salem College (NC), has been named as the new head women's basketball coach at Virginia Wesleyan University, according to Andrea Hoover-Erbig, Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. She replaces Liz Hudy, who stepped down after three seasons to work in private business.
