
STAUNTON, Va. - Mary Baldwin went on the road Tuesday and lost to Eastern Mennonite 9-2.
MBU started out strong as it scored two runs in the top of the first when Junior Michael Roberston singled up the middle, stole second, went to third on a throwing error and lthen scored on a wild pitch. Michael Barber followed up with a bunt single before stealing second and scoring on adouble by Josh Lallo, making the score 2-0 game.
The Royals then answered with four runs in the bottom of the first, with three and a Squirrels' throwing error. EMU scored again in the secpnd for a 5-2 lead.
Mary Baldwin' had a chance in hte fifth as Gavin Rush was hit by a pitch, Barber singled and Noah Kessler walked to load the bases. However a strikeout, and a fielder's choice left the runners stranded. The Squirrels had another chance in the eighth when Lallo and Will Earnesty both singled, butonce again the Squirrels were unable to take advantage with runners on base.
Lallo, Brady Ward and Barber each bagged doubles to lead the offense. Shortstop Will Earnesty went 2-for-3 with a walk.
MBU is back in action Saturday (Feb. 25th) when the team hosts Kenyon College in a double-header at 12:00 pm and 2:30 pm
