#16 UMW Women's Lax Falls to #15 Washington & Lee in OT, 18-17
The sixteenth-ranked University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team dropped a tough 18-17 overtime contest to \#15 Washington & Lee University on Sunday afternoon at the Battleground. The Eagles fall to 2-1 on the season.

After junior All-American Catherine Kennedy (Baltimore, Md., Baltimore Lutheran) put the Eagles on the scoreboard first, the Generals scored twice. Sophomore Addie Hawley (Lutherville, Md., St. Pauls) tied the score, but WLU scored twice more to take a 4-2 advantage. The Generals would hold the lead all the way until the closing minutes, when Kennedy scored her seventh goal of the game with 3:56 remaining to tie the score and force overtime. Wilton Megargel provided the game winner in the first extra period for WLU. 

In addition to Kennedy's seven goals and assist, junior All-American Allie Kimmelman (Burke, Va., Robinson) added two scores and five assists. Seniors Katie Wallis (Cypress, Texas, Cy-Creek) and Erin Murphy (Virginia Beach, Va., Bishop Sullivan) each scored twice for the Eagles. Washington & Lee was led by Emmy Matthews' five goals.

W&L outshot the Eagles, 31-30, and had 20 ground balls to 17 for the Eagles. Kathryn Stiltz (Marietta, Ga., Walton) made four saves and allowed three goals in 28 minutes of relief in goal. Katharine Farrar had nine saves for the Generals.

Mary Washington will visit fifth-ranked Gettysburg College on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
