GAME ONE  |  GAME TWO

Freshman pitcher Hannah Otterman struck out 10 batters while allowing three hits in a 1-0 shutout win over Eastern Mennonite University in game one of their doubleheader on Saturday at the Battleground. UMW dropped the nightcap, 8-2.

In addition to Otterman's outstanding performance, UMW scratched across one run in the sixth for the winning run. With one out, Bireet Chitty and Brandee Adams singled. After Brianna D'Agata was walked to load the bases, Otterman reached on a fielder's choice, with Chitty getting thrown out at the plate on a force. But senior Morgan Lamon provided a clutch two-out hit to drive in Adams with the game's only run. Otterman shut the door with two strikeouts in the seventh, including the final two outs.

Game two saw the Royals jump ahead, 8-0, after one inning and cruised for the 8-2 win. UMW scored single runs in the third and seventh inning.
