Eagle Field Hockey Falls at Shenandoah, 4-1, on Wednesday Night

The University of Mary Washington field hockey team dropped a 4-1 decision at Shenandoah University on Wednesday night in Winchester, Va. The Eagles fall to 3-1 on the season.

The Hornets took the lead in the first quarter, and, after a scoreless second, held a 1-0 advantage at halftime. After SU upped its lead to 2-0, Mary Washington reached the scoreboard with a tally from senior Sydney Keating on an assist from junior Emma Bernard at 34:42.

The host Hornets would add another goal to end the third and another in the fourth for the 4-1 victory.

Shenandoah led in shots, 27-9, as well as penalty corners, 14-3. UMW junior goalie Bailey McNabb made six saves in cage for the night. The Eagles registered four defensive saves, including two from Annie Grace Louthan, and one each from Caroline Porter and Katie Craddock.

The Eagles will host Bryn Mawr College on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
