Hawks Take Doubleheader at Hampden-Sydney

Hampden Sydney, Va.-Huntingdon Baseball defeated Hampden-Sydney, taking game 1, 5-4, and game 2 6-5.

Game 1:

The Hawks took game 1, 5-4.

Noah Phillips had an RBI single in the first inning to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead. Colton Clark's RBI single in the 2nd inning to make it 2-0. Colin Whibbs had a sacrifice fly in the second inning, extending the lead to 3-0. In the fourth inning, Andrew Knight had an RBI double to make it 4-0. Colton Clark had a sacrifice fly in the 6th inning to give the Hawks a 5-0 lead.

Hampden-Sydney added a run in the 6th with an RBI single and 2 runs in the 7th with a homerun. Hampden-Sydney added another run in the 7th with a wild pitch but the Hawks held on for a 5-4 win.

Chris Williams earned the win, pitching 5.0 and allowing no runs on 4 hits with 2 strikeouts. Andrew Knight was 2-4 with 1 RBI. Noah Phillips was 3-4 with 1 RBI. Cade Morgan was 2-4 with 2 runs. Daniel Patton was 2-2 with 2 runs.

Game 2:

The Hawks won game 2, 6-5.

Hall Billings' RBI single in the second inning gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead. Colton Clark had a 2-RBI single to make it 3-0. 

In the third inning, Cade Morgan had an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-0. Daniel Patton had an RBI single after that to make it 5-0. 

Hampden-Sydney added 3 runs in the third inning, making it 5-3. Cullen Stafford's RBI double in the 7th inning made it 6-3. Hampden-Sydney added 2 runs in the 7th inning but the Hawks held onto the 6-5 lead.

Eddie Patterson earned the win, pitching a complete game and allowing 5 runs on 8 hits with 2 strikeouts. Cullen Stafford was 4-4 with 2 runs and 1 RBI. Colton Clark was 2-4 with 2 RBI. Daniel Phillips was 2-4 with 1 run. Daniel Patton was 2-2 with 1 run and 1 RBI.

The final game of the series is tomorrow, April 10th. First pitch is set for 11:00 AM CST.
