#26 UMW Men's Tennis Tops Averett, 7-2, on Thursday

The 26th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team gained a 7-2 victory at Averett University on Thursday afternoon in Danville, Va. The Eagles improve to 5-3 on the season.

In doubles, Rishi Charan Shankar and Drew Campbell scored an 8-3 win at three, but the Eagles fell in the other two matches, and went to singles trailing, 2-1.

The Eagles cruised in singles, however, winning all six. Charan Shankar won at one, 6-1, 6-2, Andrew Watson won at two, 6-2, 6-2, and Brock Ladehoff scored a 6-1, 6-4 victory at three. Peter Leese claimed a 6-4, 7-5 win at four, Ryan Meyer won at five, 6-1, 7-6, and Jacob Pfab won at six, 7-6, 6-2.

UMW will return to action on Tuesday, when the Eagles visit Franklin & Marshall College at 4:00 p.m.
