#22 UMW Baseball Tops Randolph-Macon, 6-1

Senior lefty Parker Talbert (Virginia Beach, Va., Cape Henry Collegiate) allowed three hits over six scoreless innings and the 22nd ranked University of Mary Washington baseball team's offense erupted for six fifth inning runs in a 6-1 win over visiting Randolph-Macon College on Tuesday at Dickinson Stadium. The Eagles improve to 11-1 on the season, as head coach Tom Sheridan captured his 550th career win.

After four and a half scoreless frames, the Eagles scored six runs on seven hits in the fifth. Sophomore catcher Seth Jordan (Springfield, Va., South County) singled to left field to lead off the inning, followed by junior 3B Santino Rosanova (Laurel, Md., DeMatha) 's single to shortstop. Freshman left fielder Ben Sisk (Chesterfield, Va., Cosby) singled on a bunt to load the bases with no one out.

Junior Shane Sixsmith (Alexandria, Va., West Potomac) singled to right field to plate two runs, and freshman Beattie Southerland (Purcellville, Va., Loudoun Valley) followed with a single to right center to plate Sisk. Senior 2B Eric Rehbein (Alexandria, Va., Gonzaga) walked, and shortstop Brent Steffey (Colonial Beach, Va., Colonial Beach) hit a scarifice fly to score Sixsmith. Senior CF Jackson Clement (Fairfax, Va., Woodson) singled to shortstop to score Southerland and after a pitching change, Jordan doubled to right center to score Rehbein.

Jordan led the Eagles at the plate with a single and double, as every sterter either had a hit or scored a run. Talbert allowed three hits in six innings, allowing one walk and striking out two. Sophomore Torey Mancari (Warrenton, Va., Paul VI) pitched two scoreless innings, with Ryan Engelking (Silver Spring, Md., DeMatha) getting the final two outs of the game.

The Eagles will host \#23 Salisbury University on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in a battle of nationally-ranked Capital Athletic Conference teams.
