ODAC Players of the Week

Thru Week Prior to: March 24, 2014

BASEBALL
Tom Concklin, Washington and Lee, Fr., Pitcher
Concklin, a freshman from Hinsdale, Ill., led the Generals to a 7-0 win over Roanoke last week. Concklin fired 7.2 shutout innings to earn his second win of the season. He lowered earned run average to 1.17, tying teammate Kyle Tipping at the top of the ODAC charts. Against RC, he scattered six hits while walking one and fanning four. He is now 2-1 on the season in seven appearances (three starts).

BASEBALL
Michael Paul, Shenandoah, Jr., Third Base
Paul, a junior from Red Hill, Pa., picks up his second straight weekly award after collected four multi-hit games in the Hornets' 3-2 week. Paul extended his hitting streak to 21 straight games, dating back to the opening contest of the 2013 ODAC Baseball Tournament. He went 11-for-21 (.524) this week with a homer, eight RBI and eight runs scored. He also walked four times towards a .577 on-base percentage. He a had a pair of three-hit games, including a 3-for-5 effort with four RBI in a 21-6 win over EMU to begin the week. He had one RBI in each game thereafter. Paul currently leads the ODAC in batting average (.480), slugging (.750) and RBI (31). He is second with a .556 OBP and 29 runs scored.

GOLF
Mitch Robinette, Guilford, Jr.
Robinette, a junior from Charlotte, N.C., was the top Quaker individual finisher at the Panther Invitational hosted by Florida Tech. He tied for 14th overall in a field of 40 players. He carded a three-round total of 232 (75-75-82), leading GC as the lone NCAA Division III team in a D-II field.

MEN'S LACROSSE
Cam Lewis, Washington and Lee, Jr., Attack
Lewis, a junior from Chapel Hill, N.C., led the Generals to a 2-0 week tha included wins over Sewanee (13-7) and Guilford (19-8). Lewis scored four goals with three ground balls against Sewanee. He followed that with five goals and two assists in W&L's triumph at Guilford. Both the goals and total points (7) were career highs. Lewis is currently fifth in the ODAC in points with 32 on 24 goals and eight assists.

MEN'S TENNIS
Brandon Larsen, Bridgewater, Jr., No. 1 Singles, No. 1/2 Doubles
Larsen, a junior from Woodbridge, Va., picks up his second straight weekly award after going 4-0 in singles and doubles action, leading Bridgewater to a pair of ODAC wins. Larsen defeated his No. 1 singles couterparts at Randolph (6-0, 6-0) and Guilford (6-3, 6-3). He joined with partner Thomas Rishcoff to post a No. 2 doubles win (8-1) over the WildCats and a No. 1 doubles triumph (8-6) over the Quakers. Larsen has now won five straight singles matches and seven straight matches in doubles action.

OUTDOOR TRACK
Zander Tallman, Washington and Lee, Sr.
Tallman, a senior from Grand Blanc, Mich., started the outdoor season on the right foot with a pair of individual event wins, a relay victory and a second place finish in a relay at the season-opening W&L Carnival. Tallman owns the top times in the ODAC thru the first weekend with marks of 21.86 seconds in the 200-meter dash and 47.92 seconds in the 400-meter dash. His 400-dash time is tops in NCAA Division III thus while, while his 200-dash time ranks sixth. Tallman also helped W&L to a win in the 4x100-meter relay in a time of 41.73 seconds, the second-best time in the country. He and his Generals' teammates finished second in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:19.02.

OUTDOOR TRACK
Kristen Trice, Bridgewater, So.
Trice, a sophomore from Glen Allen, Va., put together a strong showing at the season-opening Ronaoke Invitational. Trice competed in three jumping events, winning twice while also helping BC to a third-place relay showing. Trice sits atop the conference lists in the high jump after clearing 1.57 meters (5' 1.75") to win the event. She went on to also claim top prize in the long jump at 5.24 meters (17' 2.5"). She placed second in the triple jump at 10.98 meters (36' 0.25"), and then helped her teammates to a third place showing in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 52.08 seconds. Her leap in the long jump ranks third all-time at Bridgewater.

SOFTBALL
Logan Carter, Randolph, Sr., Pitcher
Carter, a senior from Richmond, Va., picked up a pair of complete game victories last week, improving her season record to 9-3 and tying atop the league in wins. Carter gave up one run on seven hits with one walk and eight punchouts over seven innings of work to defeat Ferrum, 7-1. She followed that with another strong seven-inning showing in which she surrendered one unearned run on eight hits with two walks and a pair of strikeouts in a 3-1 win at Bridgewater. Carter leads the ODAC in appearances (15), starts (11) and innings pitched (72.0). She's also #1 with 68 strikeouts and her 1.75 earned run average ranks fifth in the league.

SOFTBALL
Kayla Dost, Virginia Wesleyan, So, Third Base
Dost, a sophomore from Bristow, Va., helped the Marlins to a 3-1 week that included a sweep of Emory & Henry and a split with 15th-ranked Emory University. Dost reached base at least twice in all four games played, helping her towards a .714 on-base percentage. She hit 7-for-11 (.636) with two home runs, seven RIB and five runs scored. She also walked three times. He slugging percentage for the week was a robust 1.182. One of Dost's homers was a two-run blast in the Marlins' 9-5 win over Emory. She had three RBI as part of a 3-for-3 day in game two against E&H. Dost is currently batting .419 on the season, second on the squad.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE
Lily Colley, Guilford, Sr., Attack/Midfielder
Colley, a senior from Wells, Maine, picks up her second straight weekly honor after leading Guilford to a pair of ODAC wins. Colley scored five times and handed out three assists in a 19-7 win against Randolph. She also had five ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers. She followed that with three goals and five assists in a 16-7 win over Virginia Wesleyan. Colley is now second all-time at Guilford with 241 points on 148 goals and 83 assists. She owns the Quakers' career assists record, which she set against Randolph. She currently leads the ODAC with 52 points and 24 assists.

WOMEN'S TENNIS
Sonja Meighan, Washington and Lee, Jr., No. 1 Singles, No. 1 Doubles
Meighan, a junior from McLean, Va., posted a perfect 4-0 record in leading the Generals to a 2-0 week. She won twice at No. 1 singles, dropping only five games in wins over Emory & Henry (6-3, 6-2) and Christopher Newport (6-0, 6-0). She and partner Patricia Kirkland lost only two games in posting 8-2 and 8-0 wins at No. 1 doubles, respectively. Meighan is now 17-2 in singles action and 15-3 with Kirkland in doubles play.
