ODAC Players of the Week

INDOOR TRACK
James Winkey, Virginia Wesleyan, Freshman
Winkey, a freshman from Fredericksburg, Va., set a pair of school records in his first college outing at the CNU Holiday Open. Winkey finished 14th overall and was the second-highest placed NCAA Division III competitor in the high jump as he cleared 1.85 meters (6' 0.75"), breaking the record of 5'10" set by James Klink in 2005 and tied by David Paco in 2008. That mark is the second-best in the ODAC this season. Winkey also set the VWC long jump record on his very first leap as a Marlin. He hurdled himself 6.63 meters (21' 9") to place 12th overall and first among D-III athletes. His effort broke the record of 21' 6.75" set by Okechi Hamilton in 2007. Winkey's jump is second longest in the ODAC this season.

INDOOR TRACK
Charnell Adkins, Virginia Wesleyan, Junior
Adkins, a junior from Richmond, Va., opened the 2012-13 season by lowering her own school-record in the 60-meter dash at the CNU Holiday Open over the weekend. Adkins sprinted to a time of 8.27 seconds, besting her previous mark by .13 seconds. She was the top NCAA Division III finisher in the race (39th overall), and her time is the fifth-fastest in the ODAC so far this season.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Colton Hunt, Randolph, Sr., Guard
Hunt, a senior from Whittier, N.C., picks up his second straight weekly honor after helping Randolph to three more wins to stay unbeaten at 8-0 on the campaign. Hunt broke the WildCats' scoring record twice and notched a pair of double-doubles as he averaged 28.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game while shooting 62.5-percent from the field. He opened his week with 14 points and 10 boards for his second career double-double in a 99-45 win over Christendom. In a 78-59 victory, Hunt made 13-of-12 shots form the field on his way to a career- and program-best 35 points to go with five boards and four steals. He one-upped himself in an 83-51 triumph over Shenandoah as he notched 36 points on 13-of-18 shooting from the field that included a 3-of-6 performance from beyond the arc. He added 12 boards, five assists and four steals to complete his stat line. Hunt currently leads the ODAC in scoring at 26.4 points per game.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Michelle Williams, Emory & Henry, So, Guard
Williams, a sophomore from Stokesdale, N.C., helped extend the Wasps' winning streak to four games with two more wins last week. Williams poured in 50 total points over the two contests, shooting 54.5-percent overall. She opened the week with with 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting in Emory & Henry's 78-67 win over Southern Virginia. She nailed a trio of three-pointers and pull down four boards against the Knights. Williams followed that with a career-high 31 points as she drilled nine three-pointers, setting a new program record and fall one short of the ODAC single-game mark. She shot 11-of-18 from the field overall and also handed out a pair of assists. Williams' 31-point output is the most for an E&H player since Kelly Smith dropped in a program-best 36 on February 3, 2001, against Bridgewater. She's also the first Wasps to score 30 or more points since January 15, 2006. Williams is currently second in the ODAC in scoring (17.4 ppg) and three-point percentage (45.7), and she's tops in three-pointers made (32).
