ODAC Players of the Week
Thru Week Prior to: September 23, 2013

FOOTBALL
Josh Doggett, Hampden-Sydney, Jr.,
Linebacker
Doggett, a junior from Mechanicsville,
Va., helped spearhead a dominating defensive effort as
Hampden-Sydney returned to the win column with a 49-7 win over
Coast Guard. Dogget and the Tigers held CGA to just seven first
downs and 80 yards of total offense, including minus-10 rushing.
Doggett came away with two tackles, both behind the line of
scrimmage for a loss of 11 yards. He also came away with a pair of
turnovers. He forced a fumble in the second quarter that led to a
Tigers' field goal for a 29-0 advantage. He ended Coast Guard's
next possession prematurely as he intercepted a pass and returned
35 yards to the CGA 2-yard line. H-SC punched it in on the next
play to make it 36-0 Tigers.

FOOTBALL
Kyle Boden, Emory & Henry, Sr.,
Quarterback
Boden, a senior from Knoxville, Tenn.,
led the Wasps to a 61-22 triumph over Methodist, setting ODAC and
Emory & Henry records in the process. The 61 points scored mark
the most during the tenure of head coach Don Montgomery and the
most since the Wasps topped Maryville, 61-7, in 1990. Boden set a
new conference record with by completing 29-of-31 passes for a 93.5
completion percentage. He covered 382 yards thru the air, tossing
five touchdown passes. Boden also added a two-point conversion and
posted a 243.83 passer rating for the game. He notched a sixth
touchdown via a two-yard touchdown run as part of 24 yards rushing.
Boden's 406 yards of total offense are the fourth-most in program
history.

FIELD HOCKEY
Kelani Bailey, Shenandoah, So.,
Attack
Bailey, a sophomore from Norfolk, Va.,
helped lead Shenandoah to a 1-1 week. She opened her week by
converting a penalty stroke in a tight 4-3 loss at York (Pa.).
Bailey and the Hornets rebounded against Washington and Jefferson
as Bailey notched both goals of a 2-0 SU victory. Bailey is
currently third in the ODAC with 12 points on five goals and two
assists.

GOLF
Olivia Bowling, Randolph-Macon,
So.
Bowling, a sophomore from Charlotte
Hall, Md., took to the links twice over the past week as
Randolph-Macon kicked off its women's golf season. Bowling opened
with 22nd-place showing at the largely NCAA Division I William
& Mary Invitational. She posted a 20-over 233 (79-78-76) on the
par 71, 5,958-yard track at Kingsmill Resort. Bowling followed that
on Sunday by winning the ODAC "Preview at the Barn," helping
Randolph-Macon to top team honors as well. She fired a six-over 78
to claim the one-round event at Rock Barn Golf & Spa, which
will serve as the host for the 2014 ODAC Men's and Women's Golf
Championships. The course played was played at 5,804 yards and par
72.

MEN'S SOCCER
Rob Sandidge, Guilford, Jr.,
Forward
Sandidge, a junior from Sanford, N.C.,
had a hand in four of the Quakers five goals last week as Guilford
went 2-0. Sandidge opened the week by putting in the game-winner in
overtime as GC topped Ferrum, 2-1. He came back with two goals and
an assist in a 3-0 league win over Eastern Mennonite. Sandidge's
efforts, which include three straight games with at least a point,
have helped the Quakers to a 2-0 ODAC start for the first time
since 2009.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
Kelley Smith, Lynchburg, Fr.,
Midfielder
Smith, a freshman from Chesapeake,
Va., helped the Hornets to a 2-0 week that included a pair of ODAC
wins. Smith notched an assist in the LC's 5-0 win over
Randolph-Macon to start the week. She followed that with the game's
only goal in a 1-0 win over Roanoke as she put away a corner kick
in the 28th minute. Smith now has six points on the season with two
goals and two assists, helping LC to a 7-1 start, 2-0 in ODAC
play.

VOLLEYBALL
Meghan Meleski, Washington and Lee, Sr.,
Setter
Meleski, a senior from Richmond, Va.,
picks up her second weekly award after leading the Generals to a
3-1 week. Meleski handed out 142 assists on the week, but also
collected 48 kills, 12 aces, 10 kills and eight blocks while
hitting .364. In a 3-1 win over Lynchburg, Meleski recorded 42
assists to gow tih 12 digs, four blocks and three aces. She notched
a half-dozen service winners in a 3-2 win over Marietta College, in
addition to five kills, 14 digs and 37 assists against the
Pioneers. Meleski currently leads the ODAC in assists (470),
assists per set (9.40) and service aces (32).

CROSS COUNTRY
Ryan Gehman, Eastern Mennonite,
Junior
Gehman, a junior from Millersville,
Pa., picks up his second weekly award of the season after a strong
day at the inaugural Shenandoah Valley Invitational. Gehman
finished the four-mile course second overall behind one unattached
runner from Virginia Tech. Gehman's time of 21:03.70 was 10 seconds
clear of third place and helped EMU to a fourth place team showing
amongst the largely ODAC field.

CROSS COUNTRY
Annelise Madison, Washington and Lee,
Sr.
Madison, a senior from Roca, Neb.,
placed second at the Shenandoah Valley Invitational on Saturday in
just her second meet of the season. She crossed the finish line in
19.90.90 over the five-kilometer course in Harrisonburg. Madison's
finish was 27 seconds ahead of teammate Liz Spruill, who came in
third at 19:46.60. The Generals took second overall in the
event.
