ODAC Players of the Week

INDOOR TRACK
Greg Wilson, Lynchburg, Sr.,
Throws
Wilson, a senior from Sagamore Beach,
Mass., started off the indoor season as the top NCAA Division III
competitor in both throw events in which he competed at the Liberty
Kickoff, leading the ODAC in both apparatuses. He placed second
overall in the shot put with a toss of 15.02 meters (49' 3.50"). He
went on to place third overall in the weight throw with a heave of
16.09 meters (52' 9.50"). His throws bettered all other ODAC
competitors by at least five feet in both events over the
weekend.

INDOOR TRACK
Aleshia Washington, Lynchburg, Jr.,
Sprints
Washington, a junior from Virginia
Beach, Va., put together a strong showing at the season opening
Liberty Kickoff last week. She was the top NCAA Division III
finisher in her two events, placing second overall in both. She
posted a time of 8.12-seconds in the finals of the 60-meter dash,
but her preliminary time of 8.02-seconds ranks as the top time in
the ODAC so far. Her time in the 200-meter dash also leads
conference competitors, chiming in at 27.38-seconds.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Marcel Crump, Eastern Mennonite, Jr.,
Wing
Crump, a junior from Richmond, Va.,
helped the Royals to their first ODAC win of the season with an
81-79 overtime triumph at Roanoke. Crump increased his career-high
for the fourth straight game, exploding for 30 points on 10-of-14
shooting from the field and 10-of-11 from the charity stripe. His
jumper with 1:01 to play in the extra frame put EMU in the lead
(79-77), leading to the Royals' win in the period's final seconds.
Crump also registered three rebounds with three assists and a pair
of steals in 42 minutes of work. Now having scored in double
figures in five straight games, Crump is averaging 15.4 points per
game.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Nancy Kelly, Virginia Wesleyan, Jr.,
Forward
Kelly, a junior from Phoenix, Md.,
helped the Marlins to a pair of wins last week, including an ODAC
triumph over Roanoke to move Virginia Wesleyan to 3-0 in league
play. Kelly, participating in just her second and third games this
season, notched 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting in a 60-57 win over
N.C. Wesleyan. She added six rebounds, two blocks and a steal to
her work down low. In VWC's 70-56 win ove Roanoke, Kelly notched a
career-best 19 points on 9-of-12 from the field. She added nine
rebounds and a pair of assists. For the week, Kelly shot
65.2-percent (15-of-23). She's averaged 14.3 points and 7.3
rebounds in her three games played.

SWIMMING
Allison Fowler, Emory & Henry,
Fr.
Fowler, a freshman from Morristown,
Tenn., put together a strong day in leading the Wasps to a first
place finish at the Union College Winter Invitational. Fowler
competed in seven different events, including three individually in
which she claimed first place each time. She set or helped set
several schools records and one new ODAC standard. She and her
teammates tapped out in 1:36.96 in the 200-yard free relay,
eclipsing the ODAC mark of 1:37.15 set by Washington and Lee last
February at the ODAC Championships. Fowler posted individual wins
in the 200-yard (2:11.69) and 400-yard (4:38.27) individual medleys
in addition to claiming the win in the 200-yard butterfly
(2:13.09). Her times in both IM's are tops in the ODAC this season.
Fowler and her teammates also won the 400-yard (3:34.01) and
800-yard (7:55.82) free relays, as well as the 400-yard medley
relay (4:00.85). E&H, as the only non-scholarship team at the
meet, won 13-of-18 events and all five relays on the way to setting
18 school records.
