FIELD HOCKEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kelsey Jones | Shenandoah | Sr. | Midfielder
Jones, a senior from Fredericksburg, Va., put together a 14-point week as she had a hand in eight Shenandoah goals over a pair of ODAC victories. The Hornets have now won program record 10 straight games and sit at 3-0 in league play tied with Lynchburg and Washington and Lee for the top spot in the conference table. Jones, who earned ODAC Offensive Player of the Year honors last spring, found the back wall of the cage three times during the midweek as SU traveled to Eastern Mennonite for an 11-0 victory over the Royals. She again beat the keeper on three occasions on the weekend but added two assists for eight points as the driving force behind a 9-0 triumph at home over Virginia Wesleyan. The two helpers extended her Shenandoah career record to 46, which is tied for seventh in ODAC history. She is tied for the program points record (136) and sits just three goals shy of matching the SU record for goals scored (47). Jones currently leads the ODAC in points (36) and goals scored (15). MEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bhayle Kearns | Lynchburg | Sr. | Midfielder
Kearns, a senior from Broad Run, Va., played with his head in two different ways as the attacking midfielder scored three times via headers to help Lynchburg to a pair of ODAC victories last week. Kearns, who has proven to be an adept "swiss army knife" in his career in the Hill City after starting off as an All-ODAC outside back and moving to the front lines in recent seasons, opened his week with the first goal in a 2-0 win at Roanoke. He finished off a feed from Brennan Lagana with a highlight-worthy diving header to the near post in the fifth minute. On the weekend, Kearns registered his first career multi-goal game with two more aerial tallies in a 5-3 victory over Ferrum. He turned Kenny Robles' cross into an assist with a well-placed header in the 16th minute for a 1-0 lead, and then made it 2-0 Hornets with a 36th minute header from a Zach Whelan service. For the season, Kearns has scored four goals with a pair of assists for 10 points.
