MEN'S BASKETBALL
Akeem Holmes, Randolph-Macon, Sr.,
Forward
Holmes, a senior from King William,
Va., helped the Yellow Jackets to a pair of wins, earning MVP
honors at the R-MC Coaches Classic sponsored by Kay Jewelers.
Holmes recorded one and nearly two double-doubles while shooting
65.0-percent from the field. In an 85-56 win over Carroll
University (Wis.), Holmes was 6-of-7 from the field and hit both of
his foul shots on the way to 15 points to go with nine rebounds. He
added a pair of blocked shots. He collected his first double-double
of the season in the Yellow Jackets 80-65 triumph over Baruch
College (N.Y.). Holmes dropped in another 15 points and corralled
15 rebounds. He was 7-of-13 from the field and also blocked four
shots. For the season, Holmes is averaging 8.6 points per game.
He's fourth in the ODAC in blocked shots (18) and fifth in
rebounding (7.7 rpg).

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Jess Rheinheimer, Eastern Mennonite, Jr.,
Forward
Rheinheimer, a junior from Manheim,
Pa., picks up her second weekly award of the season after exploding
in two wins for the Royals. Rheinheimer notched a pair of
double-doubles and twice set personal career-highs for single-game
scoring. In a 74-54 road win at Christopher Newport, she was
10-of-16 from the field on the way to a then career-best 29 points
with 12 rebounds, two assists and two steals. She was 3-of-5 from
downtown. Rheinheimer then became the first ODAC player to score 40
or more points since 2005 (44 - Kristine Ellis, Guilford) with 41
points and 10 rebounds in a 72-47 win over Washington College. She
was 17-of-24 from the field, hitting 4-of-7 from deep. She added
three steals and two blocked shots. For the week, Rheinheimer
averaged 35 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 67.5-percent
(27-of-40) from the field. She has scored 23 or more points in four
of the past five games. She leads the ODAC in scoring (20.4 ppg)
and field goals made (80). She's third in blocked shots (11) and
fifth in rebounding (8.1 ppg) and field goal shooting (.533).
