BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Mike Wallace, Randolph-Macon College
Wallace, a sophomore from Powathan, Va., connected on 9-of-17 trips to the plate and notched four RBIs and six runs scored to help lead the Yellow Jackets.  Against Catholic University, he knocked a home run and tallied three RBIs.  In a doubleheader against Guilford, he went 5-for-8 at the plate with one RBI and three runs scored.

BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Joe Devlin, Lynchburg College
Devlin, a senior from Vinton, Va., led the Hornets to a 3-0 victory over Bridgewater on Saturday. In his only outing of the week, he tossed a complete-game shutout, scattering three hits while fanning four Eagle hitters. On the season, Devlin has a 0.74 ERA in 15 appearances, going 7-0 in 48.1 innings of work. He also leads the Hornets with three saves, and has an opposing batting average against of .190. 

Baseball Honor Roll

Aaron Reed, Bridgewater

Hit for a .471 average in four games including two doubles.

Alex Foltz, Bridgewater

Pitched a complete game, three-hitter to lead the Eagles to a 5-1 victory over N.C. Wesleyan.

Ben Wise, Eastern Mennonite

Hit a game-winning home run in the seventh inning of a double headers against Washington and Lee.

Jesse Baker, Eastern Mennonite

Struck out five batters and allowed only 2 earned runs in a 1-1 week for the Royals.

Drew Ward, Guilford

Led the Quakers to a 2-2 week with a batting average of .545 and a slugging average of .818. 

Andrew McClannon, Guilford

Collected his first complete game victory by fanning three and yielding only three earned runs.

Ronnie LaBrie, Lynchburg

Helped the Hornets to a 3-0 week by going 6-for-10 at the plate, including a 4-for-4 showing in a 8-4 win over Methodist.

Byron Mendenhall, Randolph-Macon Improved to 6-0 on the season after pitching six-innings with only three hits, one run, two strikeouts and no walks.
Gary Bulman, Virginia Wesleyan Pitched five innings in a 7-0 win over Emory & Henry, where he notched two strikeouts and only three hits.

MEN'S LACROSSE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Garrett Curran, Lynchburg College
Curran, a senior from Hull, Mass., was vital for Lynchburg's two victories this week. The Hornets finished the week with a 2-0 record and allowed just 15 goals while scoring 32. Wednesday against Washington & Lee, Curran allowed just five goals and tallied 13 saves along with nine groundballs while shutting out the Generals in the fourth quarter with six saves. Saturday against rival Roanoke College, Curran posted another sparkling performance, posting 19 saves and five groundballs, with nine saves in the decisive second half when the Maroons were held to just four goals. 

Men's Lacrosse Honor Roll

Andrew Vigne, Guilford

Recorded a .519 save percentage in two games where he notched 40 saves and 11 groundballs.

Jordan Kenney, Virginia Wesleyan Scored eight goals, had one assist and scooped up 6 groundballs in a 2-0 week for the Marlins.
Harry St. John, Washington and Lee Netted five goals and had one assist in a 15-8 win over Hampden-Sydney.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Kelsi Robinson, Washington and Lee University
Robinson, a junior from West Chester, Pa., netted four goals and  had six assists to help lead the Generals to a 2-1 week.  In a 14-1 win over Lynchburg, she recorded one goal and three assists and in an 18-6 victory over Virginia Wesleyan, she tallied one goal and one assist.  Robinson also registered two goals and two assists in a 12-8 loss to #2 The College of New Jersey.

Women's Lacrosse Honor Roll

Mary Hutchins, Guilford

Scored three goals and tallied one assist while forcing two turnovers in a 1-1 week for the Quakers.

Kathryn Ollice, Lynchburg

Collected six points in a 1-1 week for the Hornets by scoring four times and assisting twice.

Meredith Newman, Sweet Briar

Netted eight goals and had two assists in a 19-6 win over Hollins.

SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kristin Mundie, Virginia Wesleyan College
Mundie, a first year from Glen Allen, Va., led the Marlins to a 6-2 week by hitting .444 by rapping out 12 hits for the Marlins.  For the week, she tallied five RBIs, three stolen bases and five runs scored.  Her performance was highlighted by a 4-for-4 effort, with a double and three RBIs, in a 5-0 victory against Randolph-Macon.

SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Brittaney Brown, Virginia Wesleyan College
Brown, a sophomore from Chesapeake, Va., put together a 5-1 week to lead the Marlins to a 6-2 mark.  She recorded five victories, a save, and a loss, and improved her victory total to 17, the highest for a VWC pitcher since 2000 when Kelly Rust finished with a 17-3 mark.  She also improved her strike out total to 142, the second highest in VWC history.  In 37 innings of play, she yielded only five runs on 20 hits and fanned 33.  The highlight of her week came against Randolph-Macon where she pitched a complete-game victory allowing only three hits and no runs while striking out eight batters. 

Softball Honor Roll

Caity Butler, Bridgewater

Hit .500, including two homeruns and drove in five batters in a 2-2 week for the Eagles.

Nicole Shelton, Eastern Mennonite

Batted .500, including one double, and drove in two runners in a doubleheader sweep over Emory & Henry.

Jamie Fraysher, Eastern Mennonite

Yielded only three hits and no runs while allowing only four base runners in seven innings of play.

Kelly Hale, Guilford

Went 6-for-6 at the plate, including one home run and tallied four RBIs.

Katie Bruce, Lynchburg

Hit .556 and slugged .667 overall with three RBIs in a 2-1 week for the Hornets.  Also notched a save on mound against Virginia Wesleyan.

Nichole Smith, Randolph

Hit two home runs in a 2-for-3 performance at the plate while notching four RBIs and two runs scored against Sweet Briar.

Paige Smith, Randolph-Macon

Went 10-for-29 from the plate this week for the Yellow Jackets with three homeruns, eight RBIs and nine runs scored.

Brittney Berry, Sweet Briar

Knocked a grand slam and collected nine RBIs in a doubleheader sweep over Randolph.

Megan Franklin, Sweet Briar

Recorded sixteen strikeouts in 22 innings of play en route to her seventh win and first save on the season.

WOMEN'S TENNIS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Meg Spalitta, Washington and Lee University
Spalitta, a junior from New Orleans, La., nabbed the match-deciding win at # 6 singles in a 5-4 victory over nationally ranked Emory.  She also recorded a win at #6 singles in a 9-0 win over Sewanee and at #5 singles in a 7-2 win over Johns Hopkins. 

Women's Tennis Honor Roll

Krystal Parris, Guilford

Won #2 singles 7-6, 8-6, 6-1 and #1 doubles 8-1 in a loss against Emory & Henry.

Kristen Lenois, Randolph

Won her #5 singles match by a score of 2-1 (6-4, 4-6, 10-6) against Sweet Briar.

Virginia Edahl, Sweet Briar

Paced the Vixens in a win over Randolph by winning the #1 singles flight 6-0, 6-0 and the #1 doubles flight 8-0.
