GC Leads Tourney After First Round

Latimer Owns Two Shot Individual Lead 

CAPE CHARLES, Va. --- Guilford's Peter Latimer shot the best round of the day on Saturday afternoon as the fired a 1-over-par 73 to help the Quakers to the top of the leaderboard after the first day of the 2009 ODAC Golf Championships.  Bay Creek Resort and Club plays host to all three rounds of competition with the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course set at 7,279 yards serving as the opening round layout.

Latimer went out with a two-over 38 before righting the ship with a 35 coming back into the clubhouse, marking the only nine-hole split under par all day.  Virginia Wesleyan's Trae Krisinske sits just two strokes back after an opening round 73 (37-38), and John Phillips from Bridgewater shot a pair of 38's to sit at four-over 76 in third place.

The tourney's second round will move to Bay Creek's Arnold Palmer Signature Course on Sunday.  The field will play a layout previously set to an altered distance than the general scorecard yardage of 7,250 yards.
