Randolph-Macon, Bowling Win ODAC Preview at the Barn

CONOVER, N.C. --- Randolph-Macon College picked up where it left off in the spring as the Yellow Jackets took home first place at the ODAC "Preview at the Barn" on Sunday. The event, which featured teams and individuals from all ODAC schools, was played at Rock Barn Golf & Spa. R-MC sophomore Olivia Bowling earned medalist honors as the top individual.

Rock Barn, located in Conover, N.C., will serve as the home of both the 2014 ODAC men's and women's golf championships.  Bay Creek Resort in Cape Charles, Va., had served as the tournament host since 2009.  For Sunday's event, Rock Barn was laid out in a custom par-72 format covering 5,804 yards.

The Yellow Jackets, winners of the inaugural ODAC women's golf title in 2012 at Bay Creek Resort, placed three scoring golfers in the top-five at Rock Barn.  Bowling, the 2012 ODAC individual champion, put together a 78 to win by one stroke over reigning ODAC Player of the Year and Hollins University standout, Elizabeth Cheng, and new R-MC teammate Jenny Jeu.  Tracy Moriconi posted an 8-under 80 and Katie Raymond's 17-over 89 provided Randolph-Macon with its 326 team total, 44 strokes clear of Washington and Lee University.

R-MC's Rebecca Ream capped the top-five, posting a nine-over 82 while playing as an individual separate from Randolph-Macon's team score.  Bridgewater College's Andrea Walker tied for sixth with Hollins newcomer Shannon Ciccarello at 10-over 82.  Washignton and Lee was led by a pair of 14-over 86 rounds by Sara Moir and Rachael Wright.  Eastern Mennonite University's Brittany McDonaldson carded an 18-over 90 to open her season.
