NELLYSFORD, Va. --- Bridgewater College garnered three major awards as part of the women's golf presentation at the annual ODAC Golf Championship banquet.  Sophomore Christina Herbert earned top billing as she was tabbed the ODAC Golfer of the Year in a vote the league's head coaches. Eagles' mentor John Rogers received ODAC Coach of the Year laurels, while BC's Andrea Walker secured the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete award. Randolph-Macon College's Liza Lewis earned ODAC Rookie of the Year accolades.

Five seniors and four sophomores comprise the nine-woman All-ODAC women's golf teams, with each of the All-ODAC First Team choices repeating as all-conference standouts.  Herbert and R-MC's Olivia Bowling are first team selections for at least a second time, with Bowling becoming the first four-time first teamer in the four-year existence of ODAC women's golf. Washington and Lee University's Liza Freed and BC's Marin Warring moved up to the first team from the All-ODAC Second Team last season.

Herbert, a sophomore from Williamsburg, Va., is the fourth-ranked women's golfer in NCAA Division III according to the latest rankings by Golfstat.  She owns the ODAC's top per-round average by more than two strokes at 74.9, and has finished in the top-10 in all eight of her starts this season.  Four times she claimed medalist honors, beginning with the season-opening Lynn Schweizer Invitational hosted by Wittenberg University. Herbert carded rounds of 71 and 73 to win by two strokes in a strong field of 91 golfers. She would win each of her first three starts in the fall, adding Generals Invitational and Bridgewater Invitational medals to her Wittenberg crown. She capped her winning quartet at the Hollins Invitational leading up to the ODAC Women's Golf Championship.  Thru two rounds of play at the conference's annual event, Herbert is tied for the lead at 10-over par with W&L's Mary-Frances Hall.

Rogers, in his fourth season guiding the Eagles' women's program, has seen his squad improve by an even 10 strokes compared to last year's final team average at 318.3 entering the ODAC championships.  Bridgewater is currently ranked 15th in the country by Golfstat as the Eagles look to earn the program's first team bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships next month.  The Eagles currently lead the ODAC tournament field by 16 strokes heading into the final round of action.

Walker, a senior from Warsaw, Va., maintains a 3.882 grade point average as a Psychology and Biology double-major. Last season's ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete, Walker is also a three-time All-ODAC Academic Team honoree and was named Academic All-State by VaSID in 2015.  On the course, Walker adds this honor to a second team selection, her third such honor in as many seasons.  She owns an 80.6 average, which ranks seventh in the ODAC. She has seven top-10's and one win in eight starts this season, picking up her medal at the Wintergreen Shootout in October.  Thru 36 holes at Stoney Creek, Walker is sixth at 22-over par.

Lewis, a freshman from Richmond, Va., has become a regular in Randolph-Macon's rotation.  She made five starts entering the ODAC championships, posting an average of 88.4 thru 13 rounds of play.  Her best collegiate round came in a solid performance at the Jekyll Island Collegiate as she turned in a card that featured rounds of 79, 81, and 81.  She currently sits 12th at 33-over at the ODAC championships.
