W&L's Peccie Wins NCAA Division III Men's Golf Preview

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. --- Washington and Lee University junior Brian Peccie opened the 2018-19 men's golf slate the same way he ended last season as he claimed medalist honors at the NCAA Division III Preview hosted by Transylvania University at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Ky.

Peccie, from Norfolk, Va., finished of the 2017-18 season by winning the NCAA Division III individual medal in May, making this week's preview his second straight victory in a row. Peccie went under par in his final two rounds, carding scores of 67 and 70 to with a first round 74 on the par 72 layout set to 7,190 yards. His 5-under 211 total was four strokes clear of nationally second-ranked Emory University's Matt Organisak.

Washington and Lee, ranked fifth in the country, tied for third with #7 Illinois Wesleyan University at 28-over 892. Emory won the team crown at 2-over 866, while 11th-ranked Wittenberg University finished second at 26-over 890. Guilford College, ranked fourth in the Bushnell Golfweek Division III Coaches Poll, finished tied for sixth with #24 Carnegie Mellon University at 30-over 894.

The event featured 15 of the top 25 teams in the coaches poll, including eight in the top-10.
