MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Alex Rubino | Hampden-Sydney | Sr.
Rubino, a senior from Charlotte, N.C., was outstanding in picking up his first ODAC weekly honor of the season and second career collegiate individual medal following play at the O'Briant-Jensen Memorial hosted by Guilford College. Rubino carded new collegiate lows for 36-hole score and single-round in his three-stroke victory, topping a nationally-rated field of 102 golfers following two rounds on the par-71 layout set to 6,755 yards at The Cardinal by Pete Dye in Greensboro, N.C. He opened with 3-under par 68, putting him in a tie with three other players after one round of competition. Rubino then posted a 6-under 65 in round two, setting a new personal collegiate-low round to mark the lowest 18-hole score of the tournament. His 9-under 133 bested a field that included six of the top-25 rated players in Division III. Rubino led all players birdies (13) and par-4 scoring (-4, 3.82). He tied for fourth in par-3 scoring (-2, 2.75) and tied for fourth in par-5 scoring (-3, 4.50). Hampden-Sydney finished eighth at 28-over 596 (301-295) in a team table that included nine of the top 33 teams in the country including four in the top-10.
