ODAC Golfers of the Week

FOREST, Va. --- Golf returned to action with a handful of events over the past several days to cap reporting for Week 26. ODAC players posted top-10 finishes on both sides of the ledger, including a third-place showing for our ODAC Women's Golfer of the Week, Amani Narang from Sweet Briar College. Virginia Wesleyan's Jacob Swigart finished seventh in his first event of the season with a pair of sub-80 rounds, earning him the ODAC Men's Golfer of the Week nod.

Below are entries for each of the winners from today's release. The schedule below will be used for reporting ODAC Athletes of the Week:

  • Mondays: baseball, lacrosse, softball, tennis
  • Tuesdays: outdoor track & field (begins soon)
  • Wednesdays: m/w golf

MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK

Swiggart, a first-year from Nashville, Tenn., opened the spring season with a top-10 finish at the Pfeiffer Spring Invitational hosted by Pfeiffer University. Swiggart tied with Brodie Perry from Belmont Abbey College at 10-over 154 following two rounds on the par-72 track set to 6,999 yards at Panther's Run Golf Links at Ocean Ridge Plantation in Ocean Isle Beach, N.C. He opened with a 4-over 76 that included a birdie on the par-5 ninth hole, and followed with a 6-over 78 with a birdie on the par-4 10th to finish better than 72 other players in the Division II-heavy field. For the season, Swiggart owns a 78.1 scoring average covering eight rounds of competition.

WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK

Narang, a sophomore from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India, collects her second ODAC weekly award after kicking off the spring season with a top-three finish at the Pfeiffer Spring Invitational hosted by Pfeiffer University. Narang tied for third with Riley Kleck from Adrian College in the Division II-heavy field of 72 players. Narang carded a 17-over par total of 161 following two rounds on the par-72 layout set to 5,719 yards at the Lion's Paw Golf Links at Ocean Ridge Plantation in Ocean Isle Beach, N.C. She opened with a 5-over 77 that featured two birdies in her first eight holes. She closed with an 84 to finish 13 strokes back of medalist Trinity Ahing from Sandhills Community College. For the year, Narang's per-round average stands at 77.7 over seven rounds of competition.
