Frye, a freshman from High Point, N.C., was the low Quaker at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate to help lead Guilford to second place in the team standings. Frye placed second in the 60-man field, posting a two-under 142 on the par-72 track at Wynlakes Golf & Country Club in Montgomery, Ala. He opened with a career-low 69 and finished with a one-over 73 to finish three strokes back of Cory Howard from LaGrange. Guilford shot a 593 (290-293) overall, just six strokes behind LaGrange.
Men's Golf Honor Roll
Alex Simmons, Hampden-Sydney (So., Charlotte, Va.)
Simmons placed second at the Roanoke Invitational, leading H-SC to a second place team finish (312-321--633). Simmons posted rounds of 71 and 81 for an eight-over 152 at Ballyhack Golf Club in Roanoke.
Ned Jensen, Lynchburg (Sr. - San Francisco, Calif.)
Jensen tied for 12th at the Roanoke Invitational, posting rounds of 79 and 83 to finish at 18-over par. LC placed ninth in the team standings.
Kyle Fuller, Randolph-Macon (Sr. - Richmond, Va.)
Fuller chimed in seventh at the Roanoke Invitational, posting an eight-over 156 (71-85) at Ballyhack in Roanoke. The Yellow Jackets finished fourth as a team.
Will Brown, Roanoke (Jr. - Chester, Md.)
Brown tied for 17th at the Maroons-hosted Roanoke Invitational, posting rounds of 76 and 87 for a 19-over 163. Roanoke placed sixth as a team.
